An Opportunistic Heart
What keeps me moving is necessity, opportunity, flexibility, and the simple joy of being outdoors. I have always taken pleasure in outdoor activity and have been fortunate enough to have rural or suburban streets and sidewalks around me that were fairly safe to walk on. To this day, most of my activity is done outdoors, mainly walking and biking. Events in 2014 and 2015 and, now COVID-19, have, despite everything, led me to increase and vary my exercise.

Find the sunshine
There's a gray day on the surface, we've all seen it once or twice. The moment we awake, we see the clouds looming down upon us. We are hurdled into what is wrong, each stress we think we have. The good goes out the window like the sun that wasn't there.

Finding Myself
I remember sitting in my room on New Year’s Eve of 2018 feeling lost and confused because I was getting out of a bad relationship. I spent 2 and a half years of my life dealing with an abusive, manipulating individual. As I sat in the dark room by myself, I began to wonder my mind and question “what is my purpose? why am I here?” I questioned myself and cried myself to sleep thinking I was alone, and no one would appreciate or accept me. I was tired of giving my all to my relationships and being treated like trash in the end. I have always been a shy person, soft spoken with a genuine heart. So why do bad things always happen to me? Am I cursed? Why do I attract negative people from relationships to friends? I never took New Year’s resolutions serious until this day. My 2019 goal was to find myself! I wanted to know my purpose in life and why I was put here on earth. I knew it was not to experience bad trauma but dealing with a traumatic childhood and being disrespected by men in all relationships from verbal abuse, to sometimes physical. I often blamed myself for everything that happened to me negatively. I know you are probably thinking what a bird scooter has to do with anything. Well 2019 was an experience where I learned a lot about myself. Overall, I came to the realization that I am a strong individual with an intelligent mind and nothing or no one can stop me from being a better me.

A Glimpse into My Story
There is something really intimidating, yet powerful about sharing your story. It's uncomfortable to put yourself out there into the judgement of the world. Beauty After a Storm
There is nothing like the immense beauty overlooking the sky when a storm has passed or the tranquility after it has rained. The peace and silence after two people have been fighting with each other or that moment when you're able to relax after a long hard day of work.

We Just KEPT TRYING
There once was a summer that tried to take every thing away from us. Leaders in our world, family of all ages, places that we felt were sacred, things we didn’t realize we touched as much as we did, hope, faith, strength, kindness, and the warmth of hugs. But, instead of giving in, most of us did the most radical thing we could do during this time: Kept Trying. We had professional photoshoots through windows. We held virtual music concerts and poetry slams. We constructed family meetings over FaceTime. We changed laws and lives by walking the streets with strangers. We fell in love from a distance, literally. We meditated and had church online as one, from different countries. We redecorated stores and communities with powerful artistic messages. We reinvented ourselves and the way the world has been shaped. We. Did. That.

Finally...
FINALLY.... The smell of salt in the air, the feeling of sand and rock beneath me. I am free of all of the horrors that I have been forced to endure in my time here. All of the mistakes and regrets that I have made since coming here, washed away just like the tide. By closing my eyes, my chest finally relaxes; I can finally breathe. I am finally at peace...

Follow Dreams.
In my last two years of high school I had to decide what my future would hold... I have always had the dream of becoming a plastic or foetal surgeon - studying medicine. I was ready, determined and down for anything the path to it would bring or so I thought. From one day to another the insecurities came in, I started to doubt whether I could do it, I would tell myself I would not be able to deal with the pressure and I went with all the negative thoughts and my dream of becoming a surgeon fell into the cracks.
