Failure to Communicate
Failure to Communicate Communication fails on many different levels from language, grammar, to tone of voice and more. In the article 8 Ways to Improve Your Communication Right Now I see some general suggestions that when applied can help. Before we move on to the article’s list I would like to point out that communication should have and or follow a format. This article being written as a professional piece of journalism should have been edited as such. The title does not follow the Associated Press standards so it loses some credibility for me due to the less than professional edited content. Numbers in the single digits should be spelled out! The title should read Eight Ways to Improve Your Communication Right Now!

How to Get Through Quarantine: The Self-Care Way
By now, I’ve been unemployed for a year. I’ve been living without a car, and run out of things to do a few times. Here’s what my quarantine low looked like for me: Rolling out of bed a different time each day, playing video games until 12:00pm, and not eating enough because I’m too lazy to cook for myself. Here’s how it looks now: I have a morning routine, two side hustles, I keep cooking for myself, and I have a reason to get out of bed every morning even when it seems hard. I’ve learned a LOT, and I’m going to share what I’ve learned with you here.

A world gone crazy
This week has been the same as many of the others and now that the week has ended, I am fatigued. The election was an exhausting affair. The outcome though declared is still not set in stone and that in and of itself wears on a person more. Add in the exhaustion that comes with the pandemic and the depression of staring at the same four walls as one works plays and socializes online. We are trying to keep the world safe, but it seems not matter what measures are put in place the world takes one step forward only to take a giant wind caught breeze backwards. As a people, we need the hope of an end date of the pandemic, the nonsense that is the election aftermath, and the hope of an income. All those things are being denied us since they are outside, mainly, from the control of the general population.

What have I become???
“Lindsay, please try to not forget the person I first met, the sweet, kind girl who loved god and was always happy.” Those words shot through me like a cannon and shook the very foundation of my soul. Had I really become that jaded? Had I let people drag me down to a point where I was no better than they were? My close friend and mentor said this to me and I knew there was some serious soul searching that needed to be done.

It’s the possibility of having a dream come true that makes life interesting
I finally got around to reading The Alchemist over the (Australian) summer. And by that, I mean actually ‘reading’ it! I also have the Audible version and can’t wait to listen to Jeremy Irons narrate for two hours! Although, I’ll struggle not to think of Scar from The Lion King as my narrator! I have boiled it down to seven quotes which meant the most to me as I read it, with the first one being the title to this article.

Questionable opinion?
"What I am looking for is not out there, it is in me" - Helen Keller I'm not expecting a high rank in this contest but the concept of it intrigued me right off the bat. Now I am not going to speak negatively or against skincare and health and beauty products as they for some are the exact root of the thing I am going to speak on. But one of the most important things for health and beauty is actual intangible, it isn't something you can hold or even give to others or order on amazon or even wander into a store and pick out from an aisle. The thing I am talking about is a thing that magazines and media constantly attempt to strip away from you. It is one word, and that word is CONFIDENCE.

Just go
A long time ago, I set a goal for myself. At a certain period in my life in the future, I can achieve a state of "go and go" without worrying about all the annoying things in life or problems in work. You don’t have to worry about all the money and time you need during your trip. This kind of life is what you are looking forward to, but at this time, I suddenly discovered that the life I am looking forward to is not so much as "just leave and leave". "Say rest and rest", no longer need to analyze what is happening today when the alarm sounds, and no need to worry about how many things are not completed today when the alarm is about to go off. This should be a "salted fish" life. This kind of life seems to be somewhat similar to the simple and satisfying attitude towards life when retiring, but in fact, there is a huge difference between the two. After all, "go and go" is actually "do what you say", "Say not. "Just rest" is actually "play after talking". If the former is creating life, then the latter is being created by life.

Namaste
Hi, my name is Imara. I love being in nature, nature makes me feel serene and at peace with myself. However, there was a time when it didn’t. That time was when I was unable to get myself out of drowning in the depths of my sorrows. I would tell you about it but...I don’t necessarily remember. That’s part of what our brain does to take out memories that...let’s just say aren’t in our best interests. I do remember that nature was something that brought me annoyance. Ugh, the bugs, the loud noises, everything simply reflected how it brought me disturbance. My little sister, however, would say “it’s wonderful, the birds are speaking to me!”. At the time, I had no idea what she was talking about. That’s absurd, how could the birds be speaking to you? I would think to myself but thought it’s just her imagination. I knew that depression was something that I wanted to get rid of but it was hard to see outside of myself, to get out of my mind. It was almost as if my mind was working against me, but how could I be my own enemy? It didn’t help that I had anxiety aswell, seeking out for help was not the easiest experience. How could I reach out if I’m even scared to simply talk to people? What if they judged me? My mind would filled with swarming thoughts that weren’t even true. That’s what anxiety did to me, I would create a whole reality that did not exist..well for the others. I internalized a situation way different than what it actually was. Sometimes how you internalize a situation is not what the situation is. My mind was working full time against me. I was not living how I wanted to live. I knew there was better for me even though it didn’t seem like that. There were times when my mind convinced me that there wasn’t more to life and this was it. That is not true. This life is filled with so much, there’s so much more to life that our minds just simply can’t comprehend it. I decided to meditate out of desperation to get my mind to be silent. I would watch Mooji, a spiritual teacher, and his guided meditation videos but at first I thought “what in the hell is he talking about?”, I gave up. But because my horrible thoughts turned into feelings, anxiety brought me back to Mooji and I decided that I was going to dedicate my time to understand what his words meant. I would attempt meditating for at least 30mins to an hour while listening to Mooji. Eventually, everything he was saying began to make sense to me. My intuition became more clear and I intuitively knew that it wasn’t my mind that was hearing his word..but my heart. Crazzzy stuff right? But it doesn’t seem crazy to me. It makes complete sense to me. As time progressed, everything he said, I felt. The one who meditates will realize that peace is our true nature and there’s no need to be attached to anything because everything simply passes by. Everything is temporary. Live now, live immediately. What you are sad about today will naturally drift off, but when we hold on to it that’s when the suffering continues. Let go knowing that better is coming. I’m not saying letting go is easy but as time goes on and you continue to let go, it becomes easier. Also, let go knowing that you’re helping a lot of things in the process. You are helping yourself grow and you are helping what you are letting go of. Meditation takes time to get right, so be patient with yourself. We spent many years of our minds thinking nonstop, just like we receive breaks on our jobs. Let’s give our mind a break. I now love listening to the wind and match my breathing with it. I act as if the birds talk to me because sometimes it feels like they are. When you meditate, you raise your vibration and animals are attracted to this vibration. Raise your vibrations, and listen to what the animals have to say! They may have the answer you are searching for. Thank you for listening to my story, stay tuned for more to come. Namaste!
