My Greatest Bookstore Adventure
Considering Los Angeles, CA is a concrete jungle of sorts, there is always little hidden gems to find. Having lived in California, there is so much to do and see that you would never be bored. I recently got back into reading in 2018 after my struggles with anxiety and depression began to hit new levels of highs and lows. I never seemed to be able to find a balance in life, but reading provided the opportunities of an escape into a world full of adventures and problems that were not my own.
Michelle Obama Is The Friend I Didn't Know I Needed
I remembered back in November of 2018, when Michelle Obama appeared on the Ellen show in a Costco doing a book signing. It was hilarious! Ellen was playing on a Piano and singing while Michelle was trying to be serious and actually get to know people while signing copies of her book. You could tell while she was slightly annoyed, the pair equally have an amazing friendship that is hard to come by. However I didn't think much of her book until this year, when I was looking for a new audio book in the Audible store.
Top 8 Book Picks For Any February TBR (To Be Read List)
Every month avid readers across the world get together with their personal bookshelf, and game plan what amazing world to dive into first. Reading has become a personal form of therapy of mine for some time. It has allowed me to decompress after a really long day, and to channel stress into a different format. Normally I don't read this many books, and even going into last year, I was averaging only like 3 a month (if that). But now it's looking like I may be moving back to California at some point, and my goal is to hopefully not take as many books with me as I did moving here to Missouri where I currently reside.
The Thrill, Horror, & Suspense
Truthfully up until last year (and I'm 27) I had never once read a Stephen King book, or watched any of the movies. I know that sounds unreal, his works are iconic and he definitely is an established author to the point of making a name for himself. But growing up in a fairly religious household, my parents did not find it appropriate to have me reading what they considered to be controversial topics and conversations. That being said, this was defintiely the perfect opportunity to discover a whole new relm of reading as an adult and it absolutely thrilled me.
The Playlist That Kept My Kids Sane Throughout The Pandemic
In early March when the kids were about to go on Spring Break, there were rumors going around the district forums that the kids may not be returning to school because of this mysterious virus we had limited information on. It went from the district delaying 2 weeks to a full month, and then we got the call they wouldn't be returning at all. I was in straight panic mode. My kids both 4 and 2 now both have autism. They thrive on structure and routine, and not to mention they were getting services through the special education department.
A World Where Sarah Draws
Sarah sat before me, putting pen to paper in a local coffee shop. My friend Hannah and I decided we wanted to get a tattoo done, but we needed someone's feminine touch added to the process. Only 2 weeks prior we discovered her in her element at Painting With A Twist. Instantly we had this awesome connection that has surpassed the night of wine and canvases. So after a click of a button following her on Instagram, I knew she had to be the one to design our tattoo.
A Winterwood Winterland
I love winter! I'm like the child that would've been produced if Martha Stewart and Buddy The Elf had a baby. I know it's a weird thought. I love decorating and baking, however with COVID going on this year, I have been feeling pretty down. My anxiety and depression has consistently been at an all time high. Even my children tore down my Christmas tree a total of 6 times. It was as if the universe was deliberately trying to prevent me from having that holiday cheer!
