Overcoming Aphantasia to Become a Better Writer
The gloomy mid-afternoon weather seeps through the openings in the horizontal blinds into my tiny space. Rain drops outside the window race down to the finish line of a ledge. Drops combine with one another to take the lead. Homemade hazelnut cold brew coffee rests on the side table. Just beneath the window, long vines of green plants stretch toward the floor, adding color to my otherwise black and grey living room.

Getting accustomed to negativity is not a good idea.
Let’s take a minute to imagine what Buddha would say if he saw today’s world. Would he be proud or disappointed of humanity’s growth? In my opinion, latter one is slightly more likely. Did we really improve as humanity? Perhaps, in some ways we improved tremendously such as, technologically, scientifically, economically and etc. But, did we manage to get better in more subtle ways such as, spiritually and psychologically. It doesn’t seem so. We are being selfish. We are being selfish to a degree that it becomes new normal. Betrayal becomes normal, dishonesty becomes normal and hatred becomes normal. We suppose it is the way it is. How many times we were surprized when we found ourselves truly being happy, joyful, content and satisfied? Even though, all these feelings are really constructive and positive, we feel alienated toward these feelings. Because, we rarely experience this kind of feelings. We all suggest to our children that bitterness, rather than happiness, is a form of knowledge. I ask myself, if this is true? If we really get right what we are and why did we choose to become this way? It has always been thought that people who have been around the longest in the world are the ones having the most wisdom. So I set out to ask myself. What is wisdom? I came to conclusion that wisdom is the ability to understand what can and can’t be changed. It is the ability to know reality best we can. And, most of us are very far from that. Ten thousand years ago, we were still on the wheel of life. How many changes have we actually been through yet? It is almost seems we are going back to square one. In retrospect, Buddha would never judge us for our ignorance. He, just like any human being would understand how it is needless to blame anyone or anything. People are what they are. In the same time, he would think that it is more useful to have more insight into our ignorance. And, then, become aware, how we are contributing to bring change into our society.

Smile more
You are important, you have value, what you do matters and is essential! Believe it or not, this is true! You have been placed on a mantle for those around you to look upon, but the unfortunate reality is that we at times don't recognize that we're in such a position. Our personal awareness can only go so far. Nonetheless, our story is worth sharing and can make a drastic difference!

Stripped bare, to start again.
Ahh, new years resolutions, how cliché. I had never been one for them until this year. For many years before I stubbornly refused to accept any significance of the two seconds between December 31st and January 1st except it normally started with a heavy night of celebrations followed by a rough day at work, like two days in any other week. I would jest and jive with the January gym junkies, the quitting smokers starting from the second or third depending how heavy NYE was and those committing to Dry January (also starting a day or two late, dependent on NYE) – fools, my opinion was not in conflict of their intention but why on this day in particular? Was it to follow the crowd for moral support? Competing with your mates so you are not the first to fail? Or just a trend to seek some sort of validation? Laughable, my realist attitude at the time (in retrospect, a mirror to my own failures) believed that if you wanted to do something, especially ‘make or break’ a habit, you would start it on the day you made the decision to do so otherwise you’d have to wait another year before having another crack at it! Yet hear I am, three weeks into the new year with three new year resolutions and a mouth full of metaphorical paper.

Light in the Dark
How do we come back from complete darkness? Someone’s got to switch a light on. Sometimes however, no one else can do that for you. Now you have to be your own light in the darkness; the spark that ignites the fire within you to just keep crawling forwards until one day you’re not crawling anymore, you’re running full speed into the unknown. When you’ve hit your lowest point, there’s nowhere else to go but up and it’s when you allow yourself to recognise that that you begin to rebuild.

A greater purpose
I write to let life flows, circulates through the body. I write to feel alive. To watch life being transformed into love letters to the present. To watch life being transformed into forms, into thoughts, into words. I write to see myself into words. As in a mirror. Drawing script that emerges from the unknown. I write to gaze to the navel too. That happens.

Where It All Went Sideways!
Ever wonder where you might be if you had made one choice in your life differently? If you're like me then you've probably thought that many, many, many times. Now don't get me wrong my life was never completely terrible, but neither is it where I pictured myself in this part of my life. How did I get to where I am today, you might ask? Choices, plain and simple, nothing to dramatic or life changing, just choices. Things everyone, everywhere are forced to deal with and they all lead to either beneficial or detrimental consequences later on in life.
