Caught with my pants down.
Many moons ago, I was working as a cook at a local restaurant that sat just outside a large shopping centre. I worked the dreaded split-shift so my lunch breaks tended to be between two to three hours long and not having a car at the time, I couldn’t just pop home. For anybody having worked in hospitality may know, even free food from work gets boring after a while. There was a food court in the shopping centre, nothing fancy but at least it had variety. The only advantage of having a late afternoon lunch break was the Chinese spot! They would box up what was left of the self serve and sell it mad cheap. Granted, this food had probably been sitting there at a holding temperature for several hours but it still tasted good, and it was cheap, so I ate double.

Reflection
“Never change, Danny.” I heard that a lot growing up, even to this day, and in many different ways. Some through humour, some through wisdom and some through over achieving for unappreciative managers. I think as humans some of us strive for change, to be better forms of ourselves, some to be as good as others and sometimes some of us just want to be something.

OH MY ... What a B***H!
‘Binging ain’t easy’, ermm.. yes, it is. In fact, it’s very easy! I couldn’t think of anything more chill than watching back-to-back episodes (or *guilty of* seasons) of hit shows such as Star Wars - The Mandalorian or Vikings, Game of Thrones or The Walking Dead, the epic storytelling telling matched with quality, Hollywood worthy CGI, make up and costume/stage developments.

Stripped bare, to start again.
Ahh, new years resolutions, how cliché. I had never been one for them until this year. For many years before I stubbornly refused to accept any significance of the two seconds between December 31st and January 1st except it normally started with a heavy night of celebrations followed by a rough day at work, like two days in any other week. I would jest and jive with the January gym junkies, the quitting smokers starting from the second or third depending how heavy NYE was and those committing to Dry January (also starting a day or two late, dependent on NYE) – fools, my opinion was not in conflict of their intention but why on this day in particular? Was it to follow the crowd for moral support? Competing with your mates so you are not the first to fail? Or just a trend to seek some sort of validation? Laughable, my realist attitude at the time (in retrospect, a mirror to my own failures) believed that if you wanted to do something, especially ‘make or break’ a habit, you would start it on the day you made the decision to do so otherwise you’d have to wait another year before having another crack at it! Yet hear I am, three weeks into the new year with three new year resolutions and a mouth full of metaphorical paper.
