The best deed to give

5.45am on a chilly morning in Japan, a new story had began.

Why is it that we need a reminder to do good deeds? Because, from time to time, we are all too caught up in the story of ourselves. The story of chasing our dreams. Staying alive. All while being a 'good person'.

"In this story" I was told. "There will be three chapters of pain"

A Chapter of Hate

When you finally find something you want to do, that sparks a little interest from your heart, you will also find those who are willing to laugh and discourage that very thing that makes your heart flutter... Some of us are all too well acquainted with this feeling. Laughter turns to ridicule, discouragement and even abuse.

A Chapter of Temptation

If you manage to fight through the first hurdle, things will start to shape up. With new skills and enthusiasm, new opportunities come this way too that are supposedly 'easier' 'will make you more money' 'better suited to you'. Despite its looks, you know this is not the same dream you fell in love with. This is a distraction, is it not?

Lastly, the Chapter of Doubt

This one. This last one makes my heart sink to depths I have never felt before.

When you do all the right things, but things just never seem to go right. You ask yourself 'what am I doing wrong?' Only to be met sincerely with no answer, or explanation for yourself.

I Just. Don't. Know.

Do you feel that feeling from time to time? There is a different type of pain, feeling deep down that maybe after all you've fought for and all you've been through 'Maybe, this dream is just that. A dream.'

These are the three chapters and the worst that we can ever do to ourselves is let that little voice of ours that knows nothing- control what we believe. Is that easy for you? because it's not easy for me at all. No wonder why we need a reminder from time to time to put in a good deed for others. Life is hard enough fending for ourselves.

So, in these times, what is the best deed to give? If you ask people today what they need most in life, some may say money, some may need time or even a time machine.

Not everybody can give their money away. Nor labor, nor time. But there is something we can all give from time to time. And when done well, it has the power to pierce through so many difficulties in our lives.

The right words, in good timing.

Yes, maybe we're not all philanthropists (yet), but something that the world needs a lot these days is just a little morale boost and positive thinking. Even to think deeper, reassurance, a safe place to be heard and guess what? It's free.

"But Fizzle, I'm shy and introverted, where do I start?"

I'm glad you asked! Here are a couple lines I use personally that has worked wonders.

"Hey, this may seem a little out of the blue, but I was just thinking I'd let you know....

  1. You're doing ok."
  2. Don't give up!"
  3. Thank you for all that you've done."

Try that for starters, and see where the conversation rolls. I'm certain there will be a happy surprise as you go.

"That's great an all, but how am I supposed to do this?"

Good question! Here's a list:

  1. Phone Call
  2. Text message (great for shy people)
  3. To a passing stranger (If you're not shy)

"...For who?"

Simple!

  • To someone you love
  • To someone who deserves it
  • To a complete random stranger

I'm sure, we all have someone that need words like these. We just haven't realised or mustered the courage to do so. Why? Again, from time to time, we are all too caught up in the story of ourselves. Catch up in the story of others and let them know; you are important, and have a place of where you belong. And lastly...

Do a good deed for yourself today.

The end. Thank you for reading! For behind the scene insights, feel free to peep my WordPress blog.
