The Truth About Doing Nothing
“Only when I . . . was forced by one too many episodes of burnout did I begin to see work as an irreplaceable part of my life, but not the whole of my life. And only then did I begin to focus on what I could uniquely do instead of trying to do everything—thus beginning to be far more effective as a worker.”—Gloria Steinem, activist/politician (From Forbes article: Are You Suffering From Burnout? Here Are Signs Of The Invisible Disease; Written by Bryan Robinson, Ph.D)

Connection lost
It is now the second month of 2021. Where are we now? It was around this time last year when the response to covid 19 started to become more serious. None of us thought we would still be here today. There was an immense amount of hope that after a few weeks, or maybe months, it would be behind us. I can't even begin to describe the pains people have experienced socially, economically, health wise... None of this is funny, or how we want things to be in the future. None of us, art first, thought it would last this long.

Reflections (my personal)
2020...The year that would change the world for all of us. It was one of the most difficult years of my life and the events could have well killed me if I hadn't been so stubborn in my will to survive. I had help from above and from those that I cherish, too. But I had some take-aways and they were character changing.

hi, hello, I'm Liv and I still don't know what I am doing
Please bare with with me as I know this is far past due, but as one of my goals for the new year was to write more I figured a long-past due introduction post (#introductionpost) would be a wonderful idea. Since I have deleted facebook and twitter, due to something I like to call Depression Scrolling, I now only holding Instagram and snapchat, have since found myself reading more on this platform than I intended. That being said, hi, I'm Liv!

Motivation Power
The power of motivation is something we can all desire a little more of. We sometimes may forget the power of motivation is inside us, and we must train our own minds to use it in the times when life can feel the hardest to achieve what we are ever so longing for. If we sit on being jealous of others lives, we will be stuck in wishing and wanting to have someone else's life. We all know, we can never have someone else's life. That someone has harnessed the power of their own motivation to become who they are. We too, can do the same in our own lives.

Healing My Trauma for Myself.
There are two things happening. One, I am traumatized. I have PTSD. Two, I am simply...different. I never thought about having a traditional career. I'm not competitive. I love to write, but my fantasies aren't filled with book deals, and I'd rather self-publish than write endless queries. I also never really had fantasies about married life or children. I always wanted to write and travel...that's it.

The Subtle Art Of Saying No
Written By: H M Hines February 4, 2021 Most people, especially people who are part of a marginalized community, have a hard time saying no to others. This is especially so in situations of employment, but also extends to how we use our time outside of work. Whether the question is “Can you pick up an extra shift?” or “Can you chaperone the field trip?” we are stymied and often overcommit ourselves just for fear of confrontation. Sadly, this social conditioning is easily taken advantage of by authority figures, partners, parents, friends, etc. Society definitely gives “certain people” (we know who, let's be honest,) permission to take, while reinforcing that other people are to be taken from.

And in this, we get lost in the whole damn point; the whole damn beauty of the human experience.
It’s incredible, the human experience. We humans often forget this. When Starbucks encapsulates “that first sip feeling” on the sides of their famous white cups, this is exactly what they’re hinting at! They’re pointing at it with neon flashing lights, in fact; the ticket to joy, the simplicity of that “first sip feeling”. It is smart marketing... yet how many of us completely miss it?

Take A Chance
We all yearn for success, happiness, and prosperity, in life. Why wouldn't we, considering the alternative is failure, unhappiness, and poverty? The question is though, why is it that such a small percentage of people actually strive for such rewards? Three reasons; fear, doubt, and laziness. Many people doubt that such a life is even achievable, or they simply don't have the talent, knowledge, and skill, to achieve it, or that they don't have the resources to achieve it. Then there are others who simply can't be bothered striving for these rewards. Because success, happiness, and prosperity, all require a lot of hard work, patience, resilience, commitment, and will power, to achieve, this group of people just simply can't be bothered, they don't want to use any energy in applying themselves, and instead they rely on a miracle to eventuate, such as a lottery win. Then we have those who live in fear. They desire all these rewards so desperately, yet they are afraid of seizing their opportunities, because, despite the potential for success, they instead focus on the possibility of failure, or being judged by others, or financial loss, or hardship, or any other potential negative outcomes. The group of individuals that do succeed in life, are those who take a chance. They are prepared to step out of their comfort zone, to make sacrifices, to accept the criticism, the judgement, and lack of support from others, to take risks, and even to fail time and time again, if it means they are working towards a future blessed with success, happiness, and prosperity.
