Do you feel like you have been doing everything right and still can’t seem to lose weight? You’re not alone.

So many people struggle with their weight, and it’s often because they believe in metabolic myths.

In this blog post, I will dispel five of the most common metabolic myths and help you finally start seeing results!

Myth no 1: Your body is capable of burning fat and building muscle simultaneously

For experienced exercisers not using anabolic hormones, it is difficult to build muscle and burn fat at the same time.

You need to focus on one goal at a time to see results.

If you want to lose fat, you need to create a calorie deficit by eating less and exercising more.

And if you want to build muscle, you need to eat in a surplus and lift heavy weights.

Trying to do both at the same time will only lead to frustration.

Myth no 2: You have to eat breakfast to “jumpstart” your metabolism

You’ve probably heard that you need to eat breakfast to jumpstart your metabolism.

But the truth is, your body doesn’t need food first thing in the morning to start burning calories.

In fact, skipping breakfast can actually help you lose weight.

So, if you’re not a big fan of breakfast or you’re trying to cut calories, don’t feel like you have to force yourself to eat.

Myth no 3: You just have to worry about the calories

Oh, my dear! Calories in your favorite slice of cheesy pizza, homecooked chicken, and broccoli are not the same. Our hormones influence how much we eat and how our bodies burn or store fat.

Certain foods (like processed carbs and sugar) can cause insulin resistance, which leads to weight gain.

On the other hand, eating more protein can help you lose weight by increasing satiety and preventing overeating.

So, when it comes to weight loss, quality trumps quantity.

Myth no 4: You need to do cardio to lose weight

Cardio is great for your heart health, but it’s not the most effective way to lose weight.

In fact, you’re better off doing resistance training because it helps you build muscle and burn more calories both during and after your workout.

So, if you want to lose weight, focus on strength training and add some cardio into the mix for good measure.

Myth no 5: You have to eat less to lose weight

This is partially true.

You do need to create a calorie deficit to lose weight, but that doesn’t mean you have to starve yourself.

In fact, eating more often can actually help you lose weight.

How? By preventing hunger and keeping your metabolism ticking.

So, if you’re trying to lose weight, focus on eating smaller meals more frequently throughout the day.

BONUS MYTH

Lean people and overweight people have the same metabolism rates

Obese people have a bit of broken metabolism. They have multiple hormonal imbalances, making it hard for them to control hunger and regulate how they burn fat and store fat.

It’s not that they can’t lose weight, but it is harder for them.

Don't get discouraged if you are obese and trying to lose weight. You can absolutely do it! But you may have to work a little bit harder.

There you have it! Five myths about metabolism that are holding you back from losing weight.

Now that you know the truth, you can focus on what really matters: Creating a calorie deficit, eating quality foods, and exercising regularly.
