Why My Red Fleece Blanket Completes My Cozy Corner
I live in an apartment in Central New York with my two youngest children. It is a decent sized space but we have accumulated a lot of stuff since moving in three years ago. Although my apartment is tidy I feel crowded at times as roaming room has become limited with the addition of new furniture. I have a computer/ desk work area set up in the living room for writing but sometimes this just does not work for me. Sometimes I just want to retreat into my own little world and that little world is my bedroom. Although a tight dwelling, it is my very own corner; my escape. A red fleece blanket gifted to me by my Mum and Dad at Christmas has put the final touches on an area I often refer to as the “other realm”.

Whether it is a cool, quiet winter’s day or a warm, noisy summer’s one, sitting here while I read is one of my favorite things to do. The window is right by the heater, so in the winter, it is fairly easy to stay warm. In the summer, I put a box fan in the window to get more fresh air and a nice breeze right over me.

I have a space within my bedroom which I can call my home. Simply just being inside my bedroom is not enough. No, my bedroom isn’t so big it can fit a fortress inside. In fact, it’s actually the smallest room in the house.
Living in my living room
I found the weirdest time to buy a home. It was just after the huge market crash of 2008. I wasn't too sure what I was doing and there were a lot of people that had advised me not to do it. In the end I'm glad that I did it because it's really grown on me. This house has really become a real part of me after so many years and that's through tons of changes in my life and redesign.

Good morning- afternoon - evening - midnight! As a psychologist, I have been captivated by everything that radiates the human well-being. However, I never taught that plants would become an obsession of mine. Today's blogstory is inspired by a conversation between me and a few local surinam gardeners. During this conversation we talked about the importance of plants inside and outside the home in the past and now. They shared a lot of wisdom with me, especially about the benefits of indoor plants. So keep on reading because I will be sharing the tea right now!

Nature is a part of everyone's life, whether we make the conscious effort to make it or not. We need nature on a deep and fundamental level and unfortunately, over the centuries, we have alienated ourselves from nature and other living things. Humans build cities in a fashion that is detrimental to nature and disconnects us from it. Even our homes are often built the same way.
