Source Teachings: The Ego

Chapter 2 - What is The Ego?

Now that we have explained that we are each a singular, role-played individual of a collective, unified, consciousness being, it is now very important that we explain the Ego and its role in dualistic reality.

-----

When Source decided to individuate parts of itself into reality, it had to make them forget they were God. If it did not do this, then those parts of itself would not "LEARN" to live as they evolved through life. They had to start at ground zero.

At ground zero, you start off at the ultimate stage of consciousness separation. You can't even think. You could even be a rock (for all is conscious and undergoing experience in some form). Once you evolve up to a point of singular "thinking," you develop the Ego.

The Ego is the survival mechanism that allows you to survive in a world where everyone else is also at ground zero. For plants, it involves growing defenses to not be eaten and to trap bugs to eat. In animals, it involves defenses against being eaten or tools to catch prey. In humanoid creatures, it involves protecting one's mental state from the onslaught of everyone else's mental states.

-----

For a human that is just starting to evolve (and, in some cases, one that is highly evolved), the ego tells them that they are an individual, and that the rest of the world wants to hurt them; and thus, the human must always look out for numero uno, themself, before anyone else. Some people also take this to mean that they must ONLY take care of themselves, and nobody else.

This represents separation, and the human will act selfishly. The more they have suffered under others, the less they will care about others. A community with many people like this will be highly prone to "drama." People act petty around each other because they secretly wish to have what others have. In separation, everyone secretly covets what everyone else has, and everyone fears not getting what they want.

And that's what it all boils down to: fear. The greatest emotion in consciousness separation is fear. Fear for your physical survival, and your mental survival. Everyone is against you, and everyone must be summed up and observed to determine how they fit in your life.

-----

Now, don't misinterpret: The Ego is not "BAD." The ego learns off of your environment and, based off of its findings, determines how you must act in order for YOU, in your current physical and mental state, to survive, knowing what it does. You NEED the Ego, as it is your persona. Through observation of everything as well as the input of your soul into the character that you are, you develop and hone a personality.

The Ego helps to steer your thoughts based on simple emotional and physical survival at your current evolutionary level.

Problems begin when the Ego takes over the steering wheel and steers your life at the detriment of everyone else around you, and at your own detriment in the long term.

-----

As a being evolves, they go from duality consciousness, where everyone is against them and they must "fight" in this world, to unity consciousness, where the Ego is calmed, and they simply enjoy "being."

This usually happens in some spiritual temple or meditation place, where someone realizes that they, as a being, do not exist. Knowing this brings them what has been called Nirvana, and they know that no matter what, the universe will take care of them. This is all good and all, but the conditions that allow for this state to be realized are often artificial, and do not reflect proper reality. There are many places in the world where these types of environments do not exist, and thus not everyone can enjoy them.

In addition, without the Ego's mindfulness of the fact that one lives in a duality world, eventually that person will forget how others think. This is why advanced, peaceful civilizations that rely wholly on unity collapse. Eventually, someone in their civilization either becomes corrupt due to the mere curiosity of "what can this mentality bring about?" and leads to a downward slide of their civilization; or, another civilization bent on duality conquers it and slaughters everyone. Without an understanding of duality, there will be no one who is able to understand or help that corrupt being, nor an invading force.

-----

After rising to unity consciousness, a being eventually evolves into a "dichotomy" being. They can meditate and simply enjoy being, but they also realize that life is a GAME, and the reward is experience, rather than endless bliss. They know they have chosen to play a role, and they will fight to keep it.

This is where people shine the brightest, as well as civilizations, because a civilization can be founded on the principles of unity, but be mindful that they live in a duality world and work to fight to preserve that reality. There are temples that train warriors both on the path of enlightenment and also on the martial arts to defend themselves. The key is not to go forth and attack others, but to simply defend your stance in life, both intellectually and physically.

The Ego also gets "repurposed" at this point. This "repurposing" is not an Ego death, but an Ego rebirth. When everyone realizes that they are all a collective being all playing roles, the urges of duality no longer make SENSE. Why take what another has if that being is ultimately you? You are essentially stealing from yourself.

At this point, the goal is to simply learn to ACCEPT. One looks around them and sees reflections of themselves all at different stages of the journey. Some are in duality, some are in unity, and some are in dichotomy, and they realize that this is okay. These people are where they need to be. They also realize that it is detrimental to try to change these people if they do not want to be changed. You simply cannot drag a person from unknowing straight to knowing. They likely have A LOT of steps in between and bumbling through life first to do before they will ever be ready.

This is why someone who tries this with a lesser evolved being will get a rather nasty backlash from this being because the cognitive dissonance within this being makes their Ego react in a mental survival mode, and the mode of attack is to mentally attack YOU instead, usually by calling you crazy or by straight out ignoring you.

-----

Higher consciousness beings will always be drawn to those who can help them along the journey; however, and thus, if a being in dichotomy decides they simply wish to output their truth and see who comes to them, people will find them, even if they don't advertise what they know. That is, in fact, how this group came to be. When you talk to people, they will innately know YOU know something simply by what comes out of your mouth.

Spiritual people cannot help but output their truth in all aspects of what they do. This is called "shining your light:" the light radiation from your truth will draw others to you, and they will want to know more. All you have to do is provide them the info they want to learn, and their inner intuition will guide them to it.

-----

Now, once you reach a spiritual level of unity or dichotomy, the problem is that the rest of the consciousness collective has NOT. The funny thing about the collective is that a part of them still subconsciously knows they are all one being, and thus craves togetherness with people; but at the same time, the duality of their nature causes them all to hate each other and try to tear each other apart. Since everyone is connected, everyone can still FEEL the urges of the consciousness collective.

So not only do you have your singular Ego, but you also have the WORLD'S Ego to deal with: all the conditioning, all the bias, all the media influence. When you are in a group of people, you can feel their disapproval. If you look at something society considers a faux pas, you might catch yourself starting to think it as well, simply because you are immersed in it: It is ALL AROUND YOU.

So your spiritual level is now hampered by the consciousness collective, and the higher you go, the more that collective will wish to suck you back into it, as you are now different; and, like a virus to a body, you are now a threat to either be converted or destroyed. They will either try to physically destroy you through death or substance conditioning to dumb you down (fluoridation comes to mind...), or they will try to mentally destroy you through ridicule and harassment.

Thus, higher consciousness is an eternal act of maintenance. Without struggle, there is no movement. Too much duality, and life erupts into chaos; too much unity, and nobody does anything, or strives for anything. The Ego gives you goals and aspirations, makes you competitive and gives you the desire to become better. While in duality, you may seek to be better than other people, dichotomy simply states that you should be better for the glory of the experience, and enjoy the efforts of all those around you.

  • Duality Ego: bettering yourself at the expense of someone else
  • Unity Ego: bettering yourself, and sometimes benefiting others at the expense of yourself
  • Dichotomy Ego: bettering your COLLECTIVE self (taking care of yourself, and benefiting everyone around you)

Say you make some muffins. You could have made them for everyone, but you make just enough for yourself. This is Duality Ego. If you made enough muffins for everyone else and said you didn't want any, this would be Unity Ego. If you made enough for everyone including yourself, this would be Dichotomy Ego, as you thought of your own well-being, as well as the well-being of everyone else, and thus the collective self.

-----

Thus, dichotomy is always taking care of the COLLECTIVE self. You are no longer just "you." You are "you," and everyone else around you. You can see this in three ways:

You are you: Everyone else are mirrors that reflect you—in this way, when someone angers you, it reflects some issue within yourself you have yet to resolve, and that is why they appear in your life. Refuse to resolve it, and they, and more people like them, will appear in your life until you do.

You are you: Everyone else does not exist—in this way, nothing you ever do is not your fault, for everything that is done in life comes back to the fact that there is only you, and thus you must take personal responsibility.

You are you: Everyone else is also you—in this way, everything that EVERYONE does, if it affects you, is your fault for letting it affect you. You can do anything to change this—you can stop talking to the person, you can move away, you can change your perspective. Nothing another does HAS to affect you, you CHOOSE to let it affect you by your own experiences in life and how you have let them shape you.

All of these are technically correct, as in the end, there is only one consciousness. It all depends on your perception of life. However, by keeping these three truths in mind, you can alter any mindset you have back to dichotomy.

-----

Transform the Ego so that it no longer sees you as separate from reality, but instead sees everyone else as an extension of yourself. If someone is doing better than you in something, be glad, for they have developed the tools to do it best, and you are them, just in another gameplay instance. You as a being are delegating experiences to others, and thus collectively you are doing more, instead of as one being trying to unreasonably do it all at once. There is simply not enough time in life, and thus everyone else, instead of hampering your experience, is now enriching it: Look at the wonders they (you) have created!

You no longer need to feel envious of another, because that being is you in another lifetime experiencing it; and thus, what they experience, you either will or have already experienced. In this way, your perception of life radically changes, and thus YOU radically change for the better.

Just be mindful that while you may experience this epiphany, others will not, and you will have to adjust your well-informed mindset to accommodate their archaic way of thinking as well. You may feel very alone, but always know that your newfound way of seeing reality is in fact just, and that you don't NEED people in your life if you cannot harmonize with their way of thinking, or vice versa.

You are here to experience your own creation, so if something is unenjoyable to experience, abandon it and find what is, even if that experience is family, friends, lovers. If it's not working, then the obligations the collective Ego implant on you are not worth keeping.

Enjoy life!
