The Many Benefits of IP6

There is a little substance called inositol that has been in the news lately as a potential cure for cancer. Known more commonly as IP6, it is composed of an inositol sugar molecule (one of the B vitamins) with six phosphate groups attached. This tiny little treasure naturally occurs in beans, whole grains, nuts, seeds, rice and wheat bran, corn and sesame. There are 650 mgs of IP6 in a half cup of whole kernel corn.

During the late 1980s Dr. Abulkalam Shamsuddin, a scientist from the University of Maryland, made the discovery that IP6 seemed to have the ability to control the rate of abnormal cell division. During his research Dr. Shamsuddin concluded that IP6 was found to halt the growth of advanced cancer cells. His research led him to believe that IP6 could normalize the sugar production of cancerous cells, thereby altering their gene expression toward a more healthful state.

Basically IP6, ingested through food or supplement, slows the rapid and uncontrolled division of malignant cells. It repairs the gene mutations and reestablishes control of division within the cells.

Our white blood cells are the killer cells that help to protect us against infected or cancerous cells. So, therefore, the higher the amount of white cell activity in the body, the lower the incidence of some cancers.

It isn’t common knowledge that a healthy human body actually produces 500 to 1000 cancer cells on a daily basis. The majority of these cells are identified and disposed of by healthy white blood cells and natural cell programming.

However, when the body is compromised by disease or extreme stress, the production of the natural killer white cells is compromised, which can lead to cancer. Unfortunately, many treatments for cancer involve the use of toxins that reduce the growth of the natural killer cell population when it is needed the most. On the other end of the spectrum IP6 has been documented to increase the white blood cell population during these times.

Needless to say, IP6 appears to have a very wide plethora of uses when it comes to the treatment of cancer. It also seems to have no major side effects and can be used as a complimentary supplement alongside traditional cancer treatments.

In fact, IP6 when used in conjunction with anti cancer drugs such as Tamoxifen and Adriamycin actually improved their efficacy.

I read about IP6 years ago when my mom was dying of advanced malignant melanoma. It was too late for her to reap the benefits, but I learned a lot about IP and it’s uses in the process.

Cancer is pretty prevalent on both sides of my family, so I don’t see any harm at all in taking a natural substance that might keep me from having to deal with the nasty effects of a very devastating disease. I have been taking two tablets a day for years now with no side effects. It just seems like the right thing to do.

IP6 rice bran extract is made by Tsuno Foods of Wakayama, Japan. They have worked extremely hard to educate the world about the anti cancer properties of IP6. Because IP6 has not yet been approved by the FDA, it is only available around the United States in health food stores under different brand names, and sold as a dietary supplement. I actually buy mine on Amazon.
