My relationship with sleep has been an interesting one, to say the least. I never understood the true value of rest and quality sleep growing up. But once my health started declining, I had to put a quick halt to my busy lifestyle.

When I was 20 years old, I packed my bags from a small town in Indiana and moved to LA. I was focusing on my professional career, and my passion to create often kept me up past 3am most nights, and had me waking up at sunrise. I didn't mind the lack of sleep, I loved the hustle—everyone around me was on the same schedule, so it became normal to me. The transition was exhilarating, but ended up being way more stressful than I knew at the time.

I took advantage of every opportunity that came my way, and I was so in-the-moment that I didn’t realize how my wellness had taken a turn for the worse. As it turns out, this new mattress ended up being a game changer for my happiness, and my health.

The warning signs

My body had been giving me signals left and right that it needed rest and recovery. After about a year of not getting enough sleep, I noticed worsening symptoms such as constant bloating, cystic acne, hair loss, constant fatigue, night sweats, mood swings, and high stress—all problems that I now recognize to be symptoms of lack of sleep, but felt like a complete mystery at the time. I decided that I needed to pay a visit to a specialist who could tell me why my health was deteriorating.

At my doctor’s visit, I was asked several questions; the first of them was about my quality of sleep. The doctor was shocked that I wasn’t in a worse state due to the lack of rest I had been getting over the past year. Alongside my other symptoms, I was diagnosed with PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome). While my hormone imbalance was a leading cause of this syndrome, another huge factor was my increase in stress and fatigue.

After researching my diagnosis and the many ways to go about treating it, I decided I wanted to heal naturally. My doctor made it clear that I must slow down and get higher quality rest if I wanted to feel any improvements in my health. I had prioritized my work and social life over my own health—how could I have let that happen?! I was so caught up in my fast-paced lifestyle that I became completely unaware of the impact the high stress levels had on my body. Although the road to restoring my health was a long journey, prioritizing myself was the best decision that I’ve ever made.

Putting myself first

I began by cutting back on my work hours and providing myself with a more structured schedule. I made time for self care rituals such as daily yoga, weekly lymphatic massages, and meditation. I also decided to prioritize getting at least seven to eight hours of sleep every night. But getting to bed early was an adjustment for me, given that I hadn’t had a normal sleep schedule for over a year. As much as I tried to get the proper amount of sleep, I just couldn’t seem to sleep comfortably through the night without interruptions and restlessness.

So, I began to research ways to get better, uninterrupted sleep, and realized that my old, unsupportive mattress was probably partially to blame. I got a recommendation from a friend to look into Lull Mattresses, so I visited their website to see what all of the hype was about. I began daydreaming about a good night’s rest as soon as I read that Lull Mattresses are made with advanced sleep technology and three layers of the highest quality foam. The three-layer technology is crafted for cooling comfort, therapeutic support, and lasting durability. I then checked out their reviews to see what their customers had to say, if Lull truly lived up to the hype. I was pleased to see they have over 35,000 genuine and unfiltered reviews. When making an investment such as a new mattress, it’s important to know you’re getting the honest truth about the product you’re choosing. I was happy to find out that Lull has a 98% customer satisfaction rate! I ordered a Lull right away, feeling confident that making the switch would help me get better rest.

What my Lull has done for me

After just one week of sleeping on my premium Lull Mattress, I began to notice a tremendous difference in my energy levels. I noticed that as my quality of sleep was improving with Lull, some of my worst symptoms were alleviated.

Here’s how it works: A better night’s rest leads to a decrease in stress and fatigue. A decrease in stress leads to lower cortisol levels, which then leads to a quicker metabolism and better immune response. A better immune response leads to clearer skin and healthier hair. It turned out, getting high-quality sleep was the fix for virtually all of the negative symptoms I had been experiencing.

Getting a Lull Mattress was an essential lifestyle change that allowed me to gain control of my health and lower my stress levels, and I could not be happier with my decision to put my health first.

Throughout this journey I learned that every cloud has a silver lining. Although I had to change my fast-paced lifestyle and cut back on late nights, I learned how to put myself first, and give my body the love and sleep it deserves.
