Reading for 10-28 thru 11-3-19

This week we have two Major Arcana cards and how perfect is it that we get the dancing skeleton of Death at the center of the week of All Hallows Eve? The focus and energy for the week will likely be on discovering things in our lives that no longer serve us, casting away burdens that we’ve carried for too long and manifesting our desires.

The Center card this week is Death.

The Death card is about endings and beginnings and is often presented from the point of view of the transformation that inevitably comes when something or someone dies. I think it’s important to view the process of death as a whole. In order for the dragonfly, moth, butterfly etc to exist the larva must die. The cycle is a natural one. Shifting the focus to the transformation in progress when a job or a relationship or person dies allows us to go forward, to not get completely overcome by the loss of something that was a part of us, though the tendency to smother our feelings and/or hide from the grief can have negative effects as well. Whether it’s a small loss like a broken bit of china that we loved or a favorite pair of shoes that we’ve worn the soles through or devastating relationship breakup or the death of a loved one, change is inevitable and grief for the loss is not only normal but, important.

The West card is Lust.

I use the Thoth system of tarot which has a few differences from the RWS. In the Ryder, Waite Smith system, which is the most prevalent, this card is called Strength and it’s about creation and manifestation. While the word Strength implies the power we find in the animal nature of our desires plus the impetus to find and create life, beauty and prosperity, I feel that the word Lust takes that power to a deeper level. In order to create out of nothing we look to the depths of our soul to find the strength. We pull forth the lust for creation and life from the center of who we are. In that way lust transcends worldly strength and includes that connection we all have with the macrocosm of Universe, Spirit, God… From there we can create out of nothing. When we can detach from our left-brain, intellectual ideas about creation or manifestation and approach them from our central inner knowing we can remove the parameters and “rules” that the intellect holds dear. From that place of un-knowing we can reach beyond the accepted norm to find resources we didn’t even know were possible.

The East card is the 10 of Cups.

When we arrive at the ten in a suit, we find the most varied and intricate form of that energy or element. In the suit of Cups I see the ten as being filled to the brim with emotion, empathic connection and intuitive understanding. In fact, I see it as being so full that we’ve gotten to the point where if there isn’t a change something’s going to have to give. With this ten we can find ourselves feeling not only filled to the brim but fed up and ready to shake something loose. In some cases it could be that everything is set and ready to go and the timing is important to catch the “fruit” at the peak of ripeness just before deterioration begins. In others we could be struggling with tangled and confused emotions and the desire to take a giant pair of scissors and cut all the threads that bind us to those around us. Whatever the situation there will be emotion involved. It might be our own emotions that need de-tangling and/or expressing or those of others that we’ve taken on. Taking the time to honor those feelings is important. It’s not necessary for the emotions we’re feeling to be of the difficult or negative kind either. Maybe you’re completely in love and your heart is so full it feels like it could burst or you’ve just won a coveted prize or promotion and the feeling of confidence and pride flow out to touch everyone in range. The emotion this week will likely be big.

In conclusion

The central force for the week is change, transformation. Plus there is the possibility to create new life from the ashes of the old with the power of our deepest desire to manifest. Where and/or when emotions grow past our ability to keep them quiet, try to honor what you feel and speak clearly your experience. If there is a need to use the sharp sword of intellect and words to speak what matters to you, maybe “it’s about time”. If the love you feel triggers the desire to speak out, shout it from the rooftops. If the brilliant idea you’ve been contemplating and mulling over finally pops into a viable form, write it down or speak it aloud. Give it the breath of your voice to bring it into the physical and out of your head.

Have a rich and vibrant week.

Light,

Tory
