Reading for 10-21 thru 10-27-19

The Center card this week is the Hierophant.

As the first of two Major Arcana cards this week, the Hierophant at the Center brings the main focus of the week to our personal definition of teachers or leaders. In the early days of the Tarot, the Hierophant, also called the Pope, was seen as a religious leader. The position recognized in society as the voice of the “Almighty” in human form... And that’s where we find the catch; in human form. The connection to Universe—Truth, Spirit, God—is very strong in those individuals who choose to carry that mantle, and they are acting as an interpreter or go-between for the Divine. Although there is divinity in what they teach, they are not The Divine. When the duty of the teacher is to empower the student up to and beyond their own level, sometimes the hardest part is to allow the student to grow into bigger and better things. It’s my belief that the divinity in the teacher shows clearly when they watch, with pure joy, their students take flight up and beyond the point where that teacher has brought them. If we can get to the point where there is no fear, judgement, or competitive drive once our student surpasses us, that’s where we align with Truth. That dance on the razor’s edge is where the Hierophant lives. In being human he has natural competitive drives and aspirations coupled with the desire to bring knowledge and strength to those he teaches. Especially when the knowledge is deep and strong, the Hierophant is driven in himself to be the best at what he does. When bringing others to that point and beyond that drive, when it’s turned in towards Self, can show us clearly where we allow our humanity to tangle us up.

The West card is the Knight of Swords.

Dealing with the element of Air, and therefore, the intellect this knight shows the suit of Swords at its most varied and intricate. Having been through all the levels of the suit the knight has gained the wisdom to carry forward knowledge he’s gained through experience. He’s in the perfect place to build the lesson of his own experience. I see the Knights (Kings) of the Tarot as the pathfinders and the trailblazers. Having lived through the challenges and joys of their journey they’ve reached the pinnacle and from there the question is; What’s next? In regards to the Air element, part of what’s next could be getting very clear in our own minds, in our intellect, about what we’ve learned from our experiences and how to communicate that to those around us. Communication is another of the aspects of the Air element. One of the most important things about bringing our thoughts and knowledge to clarity in our own minds is the ability to then communicate them so that others will understand. This knight is a master of clarity and communication and as such there can be a slight (or giant) lack of tact or gentility in his delivery. Not one to soft sell in any case, there are times when he’ll use the sharp end of his sword to make his point. There are certainly times when sharp words are necessary but I find if unpalatable truths need to be brought to light kindness is a good place to start.

The East card is the Aeon

Our second Major Arcana card, the Aeon, is a card of continual rebirth and rejuvenation. We birth ourselves new every day and make choices about what to keep and what to release of the person that we are in any given moment. With the Knight of Swords and the Hierophant we’ve looked at who we are now, where we’ve come from, and the best ways to translate our knowledge and wisdom into our daily interactions. Our sense of our own divinity and the intellect it requires to winnow those etheric and nebulous concepts down into language and actions bring us to a point of realization that our progress through this life is new and different, moment by moment. It is with this realization and our intent that we guide our way forward. I think the important thing to remember in all of this is our option to choose. Do I want to press my boundaries, stretch my limits, and step into a more prescient and expanded way of being? Or, do I feel safer as I am at this point? Are there things I can see as reasons to stay still or let go and move forward? The lesson here is that our answers to those questions are as fluid as time itself and to the degree that we can flow with them is either smooth, rocky, tranquil, or overwhelming.

In conclusion;

This week we look at our own connection to the Divine and how we align with that to bring it into balance in our physical reality. Using the clarity and precision of the Knight of Swords to put communication and action to our renewed sense of relationship with Universe we find the words and means to share those realizations. Finally, with the Aeon card we also remember that our existence is ever changing and we guide it with our will paired with our understanding moment by moment.

Have a divinely inspired week.

Light,

Tory
