This is the Beginner's Guide to Tarot Reading! These will be the absolute basics of reading.

There are many misconceptions when it comes to tarot readings. People think that they are a way of worshipping the devil, but it's not. These cards are created to connect to our soul, tap into our OWN inner power. Therefore unless you are using them for evil purposes, there is no harm in them. There are actually benefits of tarot cards, even if just doing them for yourself. There are many people out there using them to improve their own self worth and learning to set boundaries because of these cards.

Now! Let's jump in!

The first step to reading tarot is choosing a deck for yourself. You should feel some sort of magnetic pull, the one you are most attracted to. This helps reading tarot because you will be able to put the messages together easier if you are attracted to the deck to notice the details of the cards.

There are two Arcana's in a tarot deck and they are:

Major Arcana Cards- The Magician, The Empress, The Emperor, The Lovers, The Chariot, The Justice, The Hermit, Wheel of Fortune, Strength, The Hanged Man, Death, Temperance; The Devil, The Tower, The Star, The Moon, The Sun, Judgement, The World, and The Fool.

Minor Arcana Cards- Suit of Wands, Suit of Cups, Suit of Pentacles, and Suit of Swords.

The major arcana cards are the highest cards in the deck. For example, The Wheel of Fortune represents a new beginning, a cycle closing out in your life.

Now the list above is just for reference if you would like to copy and print out for your own, quick reference, you can.

Now, I do not recommend trying to memorize every single card because this will take a lot of time and there are going to be a lot of times where a card flies out and you get a different energy attached to that card.

I also do not recommend reading reversals at first because this can be very confusing when you are trying to learn the cards in an upright position.

Alright, let's discuss how to actually do a reading for yourself or someone else.

Step One- Shuffle three times.

Step Two- Pull out three cards.

Step Three- What are the cards laying out in front of you. Take a good look at the cards, they will start to tell a story with the things listed below.

Now when someone told me this when I first started reading tarot, I laughed because how are cards going to tell a story?

Well well well, that is a part of your awakening journey here in this lifetime! :)

Look at the following in tarot cards:

Symbols- Birds, colors, trees, other people? Do these symbols flow together across the cards? Like the wind, bushes, flying birds, etc?

Position of people and symbols- Is a person in the cards facing forward or backwards toward another card? What is the card following that card? Is there another person on that card, if so which way are they facing? Is it upright or reversed?

Energies- Now the fun part, look deeply into each card after you got the bigger picture of the story, you will tune into how energy comes through for you. Recognize the feelings you get looking into this card. Are you doing unusual movements of body parts like unusual finger tapping or looking over your shoulder? Do you feel sad? Scared? Anxious? Happy? Energetic?

Now that you know the basics of reading tarot cards, go look for a deck and give yourself a reading. This could be a simple question like "What lies ahead for me this week" then draw 7 cards.
