Technology is changing a lot of things and the healthcare industry has not been overlooked. Medicine is an exciting field because it advances fast and always seems to be changing how they are treating patients and doing surgeries.

With the addition of technology in the field of medicine is really taking off and this year expects to see some great technological advancements.

Here are five ways the health industry is incorporating technology:

A New Approach to Pharmaceuticals

The past year of 2018 brought a lot of pressure on the pharmaceutical company. Flaws in the current system were exposed and showed users that the current model is not set up for long term success.

To change this model there are several different things that need to happen. The first is that a larger set of tech skills will be needed and people with a strong background in IT. Companies will have to offer customers with some sort of rewards programs and have to rethink their company structure. Being able to protect online customer information will become a must if pharmaceutical companies want to survive in this ever-changing market.

Greater Use of Cloud Storage

Cloud storage has been embraced by major companies across the workforce. Doctors and health insurance companies have decided that the use of cloud storage can help them when they are treating patients. This helps patients benefit from greater efficiency and will help medical professionals in high risk situations.

Cloud storage will be used by uploading different images, test results, X-rays and notes to be uploaded and accessed by different medical professionals. Patient security and confidentiality will be a concern so results and tests do not get into the wrong hands and their information is comprised.

Gene Editing Advancements

With the production of different machines and technologies it looks like how we approach genes will be completely different. There are still a lot of things that are still in the works but with new machinery and SECS/GEM technology they will help standardize how medical factory work is handled. The prediction of diseases and the elimination of diseases will be available with new diagnostic tests.

User Centric Health Approach

Going to the doctor is not the most fun thing to do, but with a user centric approach this can help users feel listened to and valued. With the incorporation of UX and UI patients will be able to get what they want from the doctor in a timely manner. This doesn’t mean that patients will stop being responsible for their health but it does mean that users can access the necessary information and understand their plan of treatment without having to call a doctor.

The use of a user centric approach can already be seen in some areas of health care. You may have already seen different commercials for contacting a doctor over the phone so you do not have to make a trip to the doctor. This helps busy people who may not be able to take time off from work or feel too sick to make a trip to the doctor’s office.

Better Training for Future Medical Students

Long gone are the days of studying out of books in the library and handwriting notes. Medical students know have a wide variety of different technologies to study and learn. This will help students feel more prepared when they go into the field and start treating patients.

There are different apps that help medical students study and have real life representations of anatomical body parts. With the use of VR technologies and video games there are different software applications that are being tested to help students handle real-life situations that they will encounter throughout their medical careers.

Technological advancements are truly changing how medicine is used in a doctor’s office and how patients are treated. What are some advances you hope to see in the near future? Comment below to start the conversation.
