Free Weekly Reading #29 for 2021

Each week when I do these readings I set up my reading space with black fabric (for the photo, mostly but it also allows for and smooth, calm space to focus on the cards) make sure I have undisturbed quiet time; dogs are out, husband is at work/play/store/whatever, phone is off, etc… I begin with a quick grounding meditation and settle into a centered peace to ask for guidance in choosing the cards which will be most appropriate for the week ahead. I shuffle the cards with my intent in mind and spread them in a dealer’s “ribbon spread”. Then with eyes closed, I ask for the Center card, the West card and finally, the East card, reaching out to the spread, touching the cards and choosing the one that feels most fully under my finger tip, then sliding them into their positions. Before opening my eyes I return to a calm, centered state and do my best to sense whether the three cards I’ve chosen are the most fitting for the highest and best for all involved. Only then do I turn them face up and photograph them for the reading. There are times when I see the three cards before me and groan or breathe a sigh of relief but I always use the cards I’ve selected ”blindly”.

That said;

Last week we dealt with our Air element with three Swords cards and this week we stare into the fire with the 7 and Prince of Wands plus the powerful Emperor.

The Center card this week is the Prince of Wands.

As I’ve said before I see the princes as the adolescent boys of the Tarot. They’re daring. Sometimes fearless and other times reckless, They’re willing to take the risks required to press at the fabric of reality to see where the holes are. They often think they know more than they do and, in true teenager fashion, cast aside cautions and suggestions to plow their way ahead, no helmet, no safety harness, full speed right at whatever it is they mean to engage. Sometimes they crash and then come back for the safety equipment or the map or the instructions. Other times they blow right through perceived obstacles like they weren’t even there and discover that they were never obstacles at all, only perceptions. And this is the beauty of that adolescent mind set. As this is one of the Wands it is our curiosity and creativity that’s arcing and sparking this week and the strength of will we employ is the key to their success. Keep in mind that fire illuminates, purifies and burns so have a care about where your fiery intentions land and keep a glass of water handy.

The West card is the 7 of Wands.

Here we find the lessons we’ve faced in the past when things may not have turned out as well as we’d hoped. This seven shows the strength and conviction it takes to stay true to our intent and our ideas, whether they’re accepted by all or go against the grain. The lesson may have been a less than desirable outcome because we chose to go with the flow or not rock the boat. Think about the times when your doubts kept you from speaking up or taking a chance. With this seven in the mix we’ll likely be given a chance to revisit past judgments or misgivings about our own ideas and intentions. One good thing about the illuminating and purifying quality of flame is that once the anomalies or inconsistencies are burned off we can see the truth of what's left. Once we see the lesson, the option of whether to choose the same actions or do things differently is clear and the choice is ours.

The East card is the Emperor.

In this archetypal representation of the Father/Divine Masculine the Emperor works as the power we hold within ourselves to govern our actions. The Empress, Divine Feminine, shows us our connections with the natural world and The Emperor, as her counterpart, our connections to society and the world and actions of our human family. The power we find in the energy of The Emperor could pull us into thinking that the bold (maybe rash?) ideas the youthful prince energy sets alight in our imaginations are -and must be- right at all costs. There are times when this is certainly true but remember the caution of the 7 and temper your words and actions to each situation. If the possibility exists that you'll burn down your intended creation with domination or an overbearing attitude, give it a second thought.

In conclusion:

There is plenty of fiery ambition this week with the added power of our own belief and certainty that what we’ve discovered, thought up or recognized is The Truth. Now is a good time to reacquaint ourselves with a sense of just thinking for all involved. With feelings of power, and the knowledge that our ideas are right and can work, we may have a desire to push hard enough to make a round peg fit the proverbial square hole. Ask yourself if a round peg smashed and squished into a hole that was never meant for it is really what you want as an outcome. Remember the strength and resulting honor that was learned when your own ideas were unacknowledged or squashed or reworked to something completely different and you grew from the experience. This week the view is from the other side. Power and desire are high. The chance we get this week to use wisdom gained from being overruled or overwhelmed by someone else's decisions can make a huge difference in our interpersonal interactions. We have a chance to see that we may not need to trample the thoughts of others to have success with our own.

Have a wisely powerful week.

Light, Tory

TIP for the week: Knowledge may give you power but kindness and character give you respect. Unknown
