According to many surveys carried out, the most common answer for not exercising is “no time.” People are neglecting their health by making no time for physical activity. Other factors for not exercising include lack of motivation, negative thoughts, fear of judging, fear of embarrassment and failure etc.

Those working a full-time job, often their time is consumed in office work and daily commute to the workplace. With long hours of work at the office desk, stress and anxiety levels are soaring high. Due to these long and hectic work hours, working professionals find it difficult to exercise daily and get and stay in shape.

Here are some tips for a busy professional to stay fit and healthy:

Hit the gym near your office.

If there is any gym nearby your office, make sure you take a membership for that. Plan a schedule so as to when you can hit the gym and workout. Maintain this schedule so that you workout regularly. You should not find any excuses not to hit the gym. If you need motivation to hit the gym and workout regularly, find an office buddy who is ready to workout with you. Make sure your daily goal is to motivate each other for workout.

Make your commute to office a workout.

If possible, try making commuting to and fro to your office an exercise regime. If you stay close to your office, try walking or jogging to the office. If you stay at some distance from your office, try cycling. Jogging and cycling are both effective ways for burning more calories which eventually helps in weight loss management. Take stairs both up and down to work. This helps for a leg workout.

Get enough sleep.

A good night’s sleep is very important to cope with daily life stress. Get a good sleep so that your body needs to recover from day-to-day stressful events. Minimum of seven to eight hours of daily sleep is important. Sleep is as essential as healthy and nutritious food and exercise. Getting enough sleep is not about how many hours we sleep, but it’s all about how many hours we had a quality and sound sleep. Quality sleep helps us to stay active, feel fresh and happier.

Try desk exercises.

According to some studies, working professionals spend almost nine to nine and a half hours sitting on their office desk. If you are very much occupied by important work in your office and you cannot hit the gym on that particular day, you should do some desk exercises. Include at least 30-40 minutes of exercise in your daily routine. It is not necessary to exercise for 30 minutes straight, instead when you are at your workplace, split 30 minutes into five or ten minutes and do some desk exercises.

Maintain and eat a healthy diet.

Due to a very busy work routine, many working professionals often neglect the importance of a healthy diet plan. A day for working professionals begins with incomplete breakfast as they are always in hurries to work followed by an unhealthy lunch. Such poor eating habits not only lead to lower energy levels but also make our body prone to deadly diseases.

Include fruits and vegetables in your daily which are packed with all essential vitamins and minerals. Try to eat five servings each day. Also try bright-coloured fruits because they are rich in antioxidant properties. Free radicals present in our body can play a role in heart disease, cancer etc.
