Did you know about 75% to 80% of your health depends on your diet? yeah! I'm talking about your fit, healthy-looking body which comes from your diet, daily lifestyle, and food habits, not from the exercises. Sometimes we didn't pay attention to what we eat, what will suit our bodies, and how we can avoid certain foods that are damaging us. In this article, I will uncover 15 food items that indirectly cause hair fall problems.

#1: Carbonated Drinks

Some people don't even think about the food without these sodas and drinks. These drinks contain artificial flavors, colors, sweeteners, carbon dioxide, and many harmful acids that also cause calcium loss from bones and teeth.

Aspartame And Hair Loss

Most beverages contain aspartame (The Artificial Sweetener In Diet Soda) which is popular by its hazardous effects on human health.

"most of the victims of aspartame toxicity believe that the reason for hair loss is the presence of methanol in it" counsel by Janet Star Hull.

Phosphoric Acid cause

An imbalance in the calcium/phosphorus ratio results in the depletion of calcium from the body. Calcium has a major role in enzyme secretions like the biotin enzyme and androgen hormone that are involved in hair growth. It also hiders the use of other essential minerals like iron, magnesium, and zinc in the body that are absorbed by calcium.

#2: Can Coffee Cause Hair Loss?

Many people around the world regularly drink black coffee or tea in the morning for staying active throughout the day but it can put them in danger because of the following reasons:

Causes Iron Deficiency

One of the main reasons you should avoid drinking coffee is if you're already an iron-deficient person. because iron can't absorb in the body due to the presence of tannin in coffee(4.6%)

Suppresses The Immune System

Caffeine can suppress the immune system for 48 hours and can lead to certain infections and illnesses. it suppresses the function of T-Cells by impairing their proliferation and production, also inhibiting antibody production.

How Much Coffee Is Acceptable?

There is not an accurate study about how much coffee is acceptable for not causing hair loss but its consumption can vary from body to body For Example: if you're already experiencing hair fall, you should quit the consumption, and if not then a moderate amount (less Then 400mg) is okay.

#3: Food With High Mercury Level

Sea fishes like Swords, Sharks, Tilefish, King Mackerel, Bigeye Tuna, Orange Roughy, Marlin, and many more contain a high amount of mercury

Mercury Cause Hypothyroidism

Mercury occupies iodine binding sites and inhibits the production of thyroid hormone and alters the action of hormones leading to hypothyroidism that also causes thinning of hair along with certain health problems

Mercury Cause Alopecia

exposure to mercury and other heavy metals is deeply linked with alopecia (hair loss disease). You can read about heavy metals associated with alopecia conditions here

Mercury Sources Besides Fish:

1: Artificial Food Colors 2: Sodium Benzoate 3: Corns Sweeteners

These commonly used food items contain hidden mercury that leads to severe health issues

#4: Raw Egg White

People are well known for the role of biotin in hair growth. Raw egg white contains a protein (avidin) that creates a stable complex with Biotin and keeps it biologically inactive within the intestinal tract along with that, it impairs the function of other vitamin B-complexes

Note: this condition will occur when a person consumes 20 raw egg white per day for several weeks

#5: High Glycemic Index Food

High glycemic index food means all processed food like white bread, artificial sweeteners, junk food, cold drinks, and bakery items. The main reason to avoid them is they quickly spark blood sugar or glucose level and make the body cells insulin resistant which then leads to diabetes and cause severe deficiency of vital nutrients for hair growth.

#6: How Dairy Causes Hair Loss

If you're prone to dandruff, psoriasis, or any other condition and have hormonal imbalance issues like high levels of testosterone then avoiding dairy products can help to reduce hair loss because studies show that dairy items contribute to increasing testosterone hormone as its major portion consists of fats.

#7: Does Eating Nuts Cause Hair Fall?

Nuts that contain a high level of selenium cause hair loss if taken in a large amount because selenium is a trace mineral so its need in the body is at the micro level. One of the major sources of selenium from nuts is Brazil Nuts.

Excess of selenium triggers telogen effluvium that can be worse by stressful events.

Note: Nuts are a great source of nutrients and I'm not telling you to say complete NO to nutrients but if you're allergic to nuts then avoiding them is a great choice!

#8: Processed Sugar

The question is how sugar can cause hair fall. Sugar is a carbohydrate that we need in moderate amounts and we already get enough from natural sources but processed sugar is rich in calories and has 0% nutritional value.

Hair Follicles Damage: Sugar spikes blood glucose levels and causes inflammation of hair follicles leading to severe damage and ultimately accelerating hair fall.

Sugar Cause Hormone Imbalance

sugar can change hormone secretions (higher testosterone in females and lower in males) and has a deep link to depression and anxiety. A high level of testosterone can spark Androgenetic Alopecia

#9: Alcoloh Is An Empty Calorie!

Alcohol does not directly damage hair and is a well-known enemy of nutrients, especially of zinc also causes dehydration of skin and hair, decreases the moister of follicles, and left them dry.

It also spikes blood sugar levels and is linked with hormonal imbalances like high estrogen levels in males and the opposite effect in females.

Conclusion

Your appearance tells about your health and your hair health has a major contribution to your appearance. No doubt these foods affect health badly, but a moderate lifestyle can bring many positive impacts on our health as well as appearance. According to me;

"Everything in between is good"
