Struggling to Survive
To the outside world, I am a successful, intelligent person with a wealth of possibilities in front of me. However, fear and doubt seem to permeate my every thought throughout the day and I wonder if I will ever find success. I recently completed a Ph.D. in education and have multiple peer-reviewed journal articles to date.

Carolin PettersonPublished 4 years ago in JournalSigns the Job Offer Isn't Real
There's something to be said about being a freelancer. Like the name suggests, it offers a degree of freedom that most other kinds of work setups can't have. After all, most 9 to 5 careers will not allow you to do work in your pajamas, right?
Ossiana M. TepfenhartPublished 4 years ago in JournalUseful Career Advice You Never Hear from Professionals
If there's one thing I've realized about the professional world, it's that much of the career advice you get in high school is absolute bunk. In fact, I'd go so far as to say that much of the "useful career advice" you get from professionals is also pretty rotten.

In every civic and civil society, in every city, town, and village in the western hemisphere, the UK notwithstanding, you will find the masses going off to work for their employer. Some work five or six days a week, some part time, but most people will, by and large, be an employee of either a private, governmental, or third sector organisation. And certainly when an individual secures a new role and in the early days of that job, the employee will feel a sense of pride, purpose, and accomplishment as they participate and contribute to the social economic mix and basic practicality of being a productive and useful member of society. And on top of that, there are those essential and first response services such as police, paramedic, hospital, and fire whose staff believe their jobs are more of a calling to serve the greater public. And so we can see why going off to work for most people is normal and part and parcel of a wider societal conformity that the majority of the population are socialised and conditioned be obedient to and comply with literally as soon as they enter the formal education system.
Sandra FenderPublished 4 years ago in JournalTo Be a Leader
To be a leader is not to put the world on your shoulders alone, but to trust enough that others will be able to carry the burden with you. To be a leader is not to bark at others and give orders, but to bend your back with them and show them the way. You will know that you are a righteous and humble leader when nobody realizes that you have been leading them.
Davie TrucePublished 4 years ago in JournalWhat It's Like to Be: A British Soldier
"I couldn't do what you do." "I have so much respect for what you do." These are just some of the comments from friends, family and even strangers whenever I would come home for a weekend.
Give Up the Day Job & Chase Your Dreams!
Success is a funny thing. It can be quite elusive. It can also be jaded, like an ex-lover that you used to enjoy tumbling around with. And just like that ex-lover of yours, the way you saw him/her was as clear as day at the time of courtship. But then something happened. Life got in the way. It has a habit of doing that. It's a mightily intrusive habit, but it happens pretty much every single day.
Luis SamwaysPublished 4 years ago in JournalI'm Going Back to Cali
Los Angeles, California, the city of angels, the place where dreams are made of. It's suc a cliché to say that you want to move to California but I do. The question is, what will I do once I get there? Well, I'm 19 years old so if I were indecisive, I technically have plenty of time to decide. Here's the thing, I already know what I primarily want to do in order to make a living. The problem is that there are so many things I want to do in addition to that. It really shouldn't be much of a problem seeing as there's now easy access to the internet and social media, well there shouldn't be much of a problem in theory. I like to think of myself as a modern day renaissance woman, but I have to overcome some barriers based on the current lack of resources I have.
Stressed and Overworked? Here's How To Relax and Boost Productivity at The Same Time
“What! The project is due for Monday? I’ll get right on it!” You shout before putting down the slice of toast you thought was your phone and promise yourself you’ll try to get more sleep tonight.

Let's start off by stating that I am dyslexic. Many of the sentences I write may or may not make sense, so I do apologise in advance.
Creating vs Consuming
“Just as much as we see in others, we have in ourselves.”~William Hazlitt Even if you have a million followers on Instagram, there is always someone with a million more. Hours spent looking at what everyone else is doing and comparing their lives to your own creates doubt and stifles true authenticity. With the advent of live Instagram streams, incessant Snapchat posts, and Facebook check-ins, we can see what everyone is doing at practically every second of every day. We can compare what we eat, what we wear, where we live, what books we're reading, trips we're taking, friends we're with, art we're making, jobs we're performing, shows we're watching, etc.
