We are building HAL 9000 and the Cylons are not going to program themselves. There is a Commodore 64 with your name on it.

This is the second part of the article 11 Films You Should Watch if You Want to Work for Satya Nadella or Mark Zuckerberg in an ongoing series about films you should watch if you want to work for the most powerful people in the world.

You should read the first article 9 Films You Should Watch if You Want to Work for Elon Musk or Jeff Bezos and the first part of the second article first if you haven't read them yet before you go any further.

Developing Software Is A Great Business

19 of the largest 2000 companies in the entire world are software and programming companies and almost all of them are making at the very least $199 million annually.

The only two exceptions are Salesforce.com (NASDAQ: CRM), and Autodesk (NASDAQ: ADSK) which are currently losing money.

If you are currently unemployed then you should not be sending your resume to these two companies.

Salesforce.com has lost money in two of the last four quarters and one easy way to change the color in the books from red to black is to systematically fire 1%-49% of the 19,000 young employees without a mortgage and without children and replace them with more desperate and married individuals with three children, a car loan, and a mortgage for a salary 1%-49% lower than what they were paying to the recently fired employee.

Autodesk lost $330.5 million in 2016.

My advice to you is this: Don't buy that Porsche with your credit card yet. Stick to a car that you can afford to acquire with cash.

You don't want to work for an unprofitable company. You want to work for a company with so much money that they are sending rockets to the moon just for kicks.

By the way, I have worked for Apple, Google, and Microsoft. And these films give great insight into powerful companies.

Academy Award winner Billy Bob Thornton, Golden Globe winner Michael Chiklis, Golden Globe nominee Michelle Monaghan, and world-famous Rosario Dawson currently working in the television shows Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and The Defenders star in this 2008 science fiction action film directed by D.J. Caruso.

Director and two-time Emmy Award nominee John Badham was Caruso's mentor and he eventually turned him into a second-unit director.

D.J. Caruso had a big break back in 1993 when he was appointed second-unit director for the film Point of No Return.

Eleven years later, he was directing the world's biggest movie star Angelina Jolie, the world's biggest television star Kiefer Sutherland, and four-time Academy Award nominee Ethan Hawke in the 2004 psychological thriller film Taking Lives.

The executive producers could never recover their $45 million investment and the film critics hated the film.

However, you are still making the world a better place even if you back financially the worst film ever.

Back then, there was a young and starving artist trying to sell his second screenplay in Hollywood.

His name is Jon Bokenkamp.

Without Taking Lives there is no Blacklist.

This science fiction action film is about connected devices and how we are slowly replacing human beings with software and robots.

A few decades ago we had people selling bottled water outside baseball stadiums and we have replaced them with vending machines.

A few decades ago we had arms dealers selling explosives and assault rifles in a dark alley risking an arrest by an undercover cop and we have replaced them with the Black Market Bazaar.

If you want to build a new vending machine that sells something a human being really needs like a Sony PlayStation 4 game then you can join Facebook or Microsoft and put GameStop (NYSE: GME) out of business.

Facebook acquired the speech recognition company wit.ai back in 2015 for an undisclosed amount.

Stealth

Academy Award winner Jamie Foxx, Academy Award nominee Sam Shepard, and Emmy Award winner Joe Morton star in this 2005 military science fiction action film made with a massive budget of $135 million.

Screenwriter W.D. Richter was nominated for an Academy Award in the Best Writing, Screenplay Written Directly for the Screen category back in 1981 in association with Arthur A. Ross for their hard work in the 1980 prison drama filmBrubaker.

He never worked again in Hollywood as a screenwriter after this film.

It is difficult to make money with a science fiction film with a budget this huge.

If you are going to hire a screenwriter who has been unemployed for a decade then you should hire a hungrier and younger screenwriter who has only been unemployed for five years or less and who has only a Golden Globe nomination or an Emmy Award nomination.

In other words, somebody who is at the bottom and wants to make it to the top.

An experienced ancient working together with a more energetic youngster is a powerful combination.

He wrote the screenplay for the 1978 film Invasion of the Body Snatchers, currently one of the greatest films ever made with a certified fresh rating of 94% on Rotten Tomatoes.

You cannot beat that.

This military science fiction action film is about automatic airplanes.

The Pentagon currently employs 330,159 Regular Air Force soldiers and some of them are pilots.

These pilots are costing you an undisclosed percentage of $170 billion each year.

If you want to replace each pilot with Skynet and save billions of dollars each year then you can join Facebook or Microsoft and put Korean Air (NKRX: 003490) and Latam Airlines (NYSE: LFL) out of business.

Milla Jovovich and Michelle Rodríguez star in this 2002 science fiction action horror film written and directed by Paul W. S. Anderson with a modest budget of $35 million.

The film was a huge financial success with global ticket sales of more than $102 million and enough net profits to make a sequel two years later with a bigger budget of $45 million.

This science fiction action horror film is about the Red Queen, a supercomputer with only two objectives: Overseeing and protection of Umbrella assets and the protection of Umbrella officers' lives.

It's cheaper to acquire a supercomputer to protect the lives of your employees than hiring a human being but you should hire someone like me anyway.

The Human Resources department is getting thinner and thinner each year because software companies are slowly replacing many tasks human beings used to do with computers.

Forbes 2000 companies spend billions of dollars each year managing employees and each year Microsoft and Facebook get a bigger piece of the pie.

Eventually, your entire Human Resources department will be managed by software and programming companies like Oracle (NYSE: ORCL) and SAP.

If you are currently working in the Human Resources department then you should really go back to school and get an MBA before you are replaced by Siri or Cortana.

Facebook acquired the computer vision company Surreal Vision back in 2015 for an undisclosed amount.

This science fiction film is about slavery.

You don't have to be in a cell or in chains to be a slave.

Maybe you are enslaved by the Belgians if you drink Budweiser, a subsidiary of Anheuser-Busch InBev (NYSE: BUD) two or more times each week.

Maybe you are enslaved by the British if you smoke Winston, a subsidiary of Imperial Brands (OTCQX: IMBBY, ITYBF) two or more times each week.

This is better explained in the 2008 futuristic science fiction film Sleep Dealer.
