George Miller and Doug Mitchel are two of the producers and two of their films have been nominated for an Academy Award in the Best Picture category. First Babe in 1996 and then Mad Max: Fury Road in 2016.

These films are two of the 1001 movies you must see before you die according to Ian Haydn Smith and Steven Jay Schneider.

A young and extremely beautiful Nicole Kidman stars in this film and a year later she was nominated for the very first time for a Golden Globe in the Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture category for her hard work in the film Billy Bathgate.

A young Naomi Watts also stars in this film and thirteen years later she was nominated for the very first time for an Academy Award in the Best Actress in a Leading Role category for her hard work in the film 21 Grams directed by Mexican Director and four-time Academy Award winner Alejandro González Iñárritu.

Dante Ferretti and Francesca Lo Schiavo were nominated for an Academy Award in the Best Art Direction-Set Decoration category.

These two are the magicians behind the curtain and they have worked very hard in many of the greatest films ever made like Gangs of New York,The Aviator, and Hugo.

The Leading Man

Jon Bon Jovi stars in this 1996 romantic drama film.

Thandie Newton plays Hilary Rule.

Gridlock'd

Tupac Shakur, Two-time Academy Award nominee John Sayles, Academy Award nominee Tim Roth, and two-time Emmy Award nominee Howard Hesseman star in this 1997 crime black dramedy film produced with a very small budget of only $5 million.

Thandie Newton plays Barbara 'Cookie' Cook.

Besieged

Thandie Newton plays the role of Shandurai in this 1998 film directed by Two-time Academy Award Bernardo Bertolucci.

This film based on the short story "The Siege" by author James Lasdun.

James Lasdun wrote the 2006 novel Seven Lies and was longlisted for the Man Booker Prize for Fiction.

If you happen to be a film producer searching for a good book then you may find an intellectual property with all the required elements you need to produce a critically acclaimed film here.

Beloved

Colleen Atwood was nominated for the second time for an Academy Award in the Best Costume Design category back in 1999 for her hard work in this 1998 horror drama film.

Four years later she wins her first Academy Award in the same category for her work in the 2002 musical criminal comedy film Chicago based on the Broadway musical of the same name.

This Broadway musical is still the second longest-running show in Broadway history, behind only The Phantom of the Opera, having played its 7,486th performance on November 23, 2014, surpassing Cats.

Three years later she wins her second Academy Award in the same category for her work in the 2005 epic drama film Memoirs of a Geisha based on the book of the same name.

Mineko Iwasaki, a retired geisha, filed a lawsuit against Arthur Golden, the author of the novel because he promised her anonymity.

Book publisher Alfred A. Knopf, a subsidiary of Penguin Random House since 1960 settled the matter out of court for an undisclosed amount of cash.

Penguin Random House itself is a subsidiary of Bertelsmann since 1998.

You cannot buy any shares in a German conglomerate like Bertelsmann but you can acquire a few shares in Pearson (NYSE: PSO)

Pearson is currently the fifth largest publisher in the entire world by sales and they hold a minority investment of 47% in Penguin Random House.

If you follow the money long enough it always ends in the same place and it's nowhere near the United States of America.

Mineko Iwasaki published her autobiography Geisha, A Life back in 2003.

Five years later she wins her third Academy Award in the same category for her work in the 2010 Alice in Wonderland fantasy adventure film directed by Tim Burton based on the book of the same name.

Shade

Academy Award winner Jamie Foxx, three-time Academy Award nominee Silvester Stallone, Academy Award nominee Melanie Griffith, and Golden Globe winner Gabriel Byrne star in this 2003 neo-noir crime drama film produced with a modest budget of only $10 million.

Thandie Newton plays Tiffany.

Director Damian Nieman directed a very good film with his directional debut.

Unfortunately for him, audiences did not buy enough tickets to recover the original investment and he could never direct another film until the year 2017.

I think the current system is broken if you cannot get a job for 14 years IF YOU DIRECT A GOOD FILM.

Directors are only in charge during the production of the film. After they deliver the film there is not much they can do to promote the film, except granting interviews in every television show and blog out there before the film is released.

Films are massive businesses with many moving parts and I don't think you should blame the director if you lose money. These days the marketing and sales departments are as important as the production department.

In fact, many small independent films are acquired at film festivals by the conglomerates for a few million and they usually invest more in marketing than the actual cost of acquiring the film.

If the film Hell's Acre currently in preproduction is critically acclaimed then you should hire this director even if the film is not a commercial success.

Some people are too smart to be unemployed for years and years.

We need to build a new system and somehow keep these talented individuals working indefinitely.

Maybe the entire original cast should contribute a million bucks each and become the executive producers on a new film directed by Damian Nieman with a small budget of $5 million.

They all are millionaires now.

Crash

Hughes Winborne won an Academy Award in the Best Achievement in Film Editing category and a decade later he was hired by The Walt Disney Company (NYSE: DIS) as the Editor of Guardians of the Galaxy, currently one the greatest films ever made with a certified fresh rating of 91% according to RT.

Robert Moresco and Paul Haggis won an Academy Award in the Best Writing, Original Screenplay category as well.

Cathy Schulman and Paul Haggis won an Academy Award in the Best Motion Picture of the Year as well.

Paul Haggis also received a nomination for an Academy Award in the Best Achievement in Directing category.

A year later he received a nomination for an Academy Award in the Best Writing, Original Screenplay category in association with screenwriter Iris Yamashita for their hard work in the 2006 film Letters from Iwo Jima.

Robert Moresco and Paul Haggis also received a Golden Globe nomination in the Best Screenplay - Motion Picture for their hard work back in 2006.

Thandie Newton plays Christine Thayer.

This 2004 ensemble drama film was produced with a tiny budget of $6.5 million and it was a huge critical and financial success.

Academy Award nominee and Golden Globe winner Don Cheadle not only makes an appearance in this film. He is also one of the six producers.

Don Cheadle now has a net worth of $35 million and he plays War Machine in Civil War, currently one of the greatest film ever made with a certified fresh rating of 90% according to RT.

Don Cheadle made a very smart decision back in 2004 when he decided to become a producer.

Since Crash, he has produced six films.

If he keeps backing films with Academy Award nominees like James Earl Jones, Laurence Fishburne, Will Smith, Terrence Howard, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Diana Ross, Cicely Tyson, Diahann Carroll, Angela Bassett, Gabourey Sidibe, Viola Davis and/or Quvenzhané Wallis then he is going to increase his wealth to at least $70 million in a few years.

Crash is another one of the 1001 movies you must see before you die according to Ian Haydn Smith and Steven Jay Schneider.

Ludacris, Academy Award winner Sandra Bullock, and Academy Award nominee Terrence Howard are some of the stars playing roles this film.

The Pursuit of Happyness

Will Smith was nominated for an Academy Award and for a Golden Globe for his unforgettable performance in this amazing film.

Thandie Newton plays the role of Linda.

Jaden Smith, Trey Smith's brother plays the role of Christopher.

Italian film director Gabriele Muccino directed this 2006 biographical drama film produced with a budget of $55 million.

This film based on the life of author Chris Gardner was a global financial success with more than $307 million in worldwide ticket sales.

Chris Gardner now travels all over the world 200 days a year as a motivational speaker. Gardner has spoken in over 50 countries.

You should buy his book.
