The Day I Met You....
This is the story of how I met you. A story to my boyfriend about how he made me feel when we first met and how we met. On the day I met you, I thought you were the most handsome man I had seen in a long while. I wanted nothing more than to talk to you and to get your number, but me being shy and always having my resting bitch face on, I knew you wouldn’t want to get to know me at all. No one wants to get to know the woman behind the counter at the gas station with the funny shortcut hair and mean look on her face. From the Yelp! Reviews no one likes me or they think I am a bitch and a mean person who they would like to fight. They say I have a poor attitude. Not that I have a poor attitude, I just don’t like stupid and ignorant people who think they can treat me anyway they like and talk to me anyway they like and expect me not to give them the same in return.

Don't Let This Woman Go
This woman has come into your life for a reason. You had just broken up from your past relationship so don't mess up this opportunity. Give to her what you didn't give to the other woman in your life. You let your past relationship slip between your fingers because your ego, pride, stubbornness, etc got in the way.

Connection
Often, now that we have technology, we hear that phones and technology are the death of humanity or that everyone is too addicted to their phone to even be present in society anymore. This becomes even more apparent with COVID-19, considering we are required to physically avoid too much human connection. Yet I find, in any day and age, humans remain and will always remain connected. Why do we love our friends and family? Why do we get lonely? Why do we wish to have gone somewhere everyone else is hanging out at? We want to be with others, even if we value our solitude, in the end having someone is always better than being alone or more specifically being lonely.

Coming Home
"You can always find me here, where the air is warm, where you can hear the crickets chirp, and I'm here holding your hand." Where was that though? I know we were driving there, it was a place you grew up. I remember the windows were down, and the wind was flowing through your hair and it was lightly caressing my face. You were looking in the mirror, readjusting it, even though it was only you and me. There was a horizon that looked like a painting, and it was perfect, and it still was you that I focused on. We sat under a pear tree, with the light of the sunset filtering in through the branches, and we sat there until the twilight. A soft sound near us made you turn your head, a deer slowing from a gallop to a curious walk to eat a pear on the ground. It noticed our scent, but we were so calm it didn't do anything. And it's like I'm reaching after you, back in that moment, saying those words, and it's always out of reach. I want to go there again, but something keeps me from going, something I was supposed to do.

Tree Angel
There is no excuse to look at the albums and recipes again. During the pandemic everything feels like a bad game of musical chairs without laughter, without innocence, somedays- without even the fragrance of possibilities. However, her eyes lit upon one tiny picture. A polaroid from the black and white era. A little girl in a relaxed pose. She knew the grey scale pajamas were frilly, red nylon tricot. And she knew that the little white socks could be worn inside without getting ruined-because the floors were that clean. Lunch would be coming soon. Perhaps some Riceland Rice and little boiled chicken drumsticks.

Foolish but fateful moments.
Five years have whisked away since that moment on stage, with not a drop of tangible evidence to show for it. "Plant pears for your heirs” they say. I have such little fruit to eat, just the juiciness of the memory. I’ve always believed love never hides, that when you know, you know. Everyone else sees it too. What I didn’t understand was sometimes love is like a pear tree; slow to show fruit.

From Beneath the Olive Tree
It was from beneath the olive tree that I found respite. That ancient tree provided a shaded haven, offering me a special sort of peace. The olive tree stood in the partial shade of two abundant pair trees, all drinking from the banks of a narrow river. Their fruit, a combination of pears and olives, ripe and unripe, dropped to the ground—a feast for blackbirds and Persian Fallow Deer. And the river ran through the sands of Israel. It was 1838. I was 16 years old.
