Fate Night
Kelsey pulled the red dress over her head and threw it on the chair in her bedroom. What was she doing? What was she thinking? She shook her head in the direction of the dress, as if it was a person she was having a conversation with. She hated blind dates! Hated them! They never seemed to work out for her. She walked over to her closet and took a minute to look over her choices. After a few thoughtful minutes, she pulled out a black v neck sweater. You could never go wrong with black. Right? She put the sweater on and grabbed a pair of white jeans. She walked slowly to the full length mirror she had hanging in her bedroom. Her hand reached out to smooth the sweater out and pull it down a little more. This was a habit that Kelsey had started a long time ago. She was tall for a girl. Standing about 5’9 without heels, and it seemed to her that many of the clothes she had bought over the years, seemed to sit just about her waist and sometimes even showing a little sliver of skin. So, over the years she had just subconsciously started pulling her shirts and sweaters down. Almost as if the habit of doing that would make the shirt longer. She glanced in the mirror and sighed. This would have to be the outfit she wore tonight for this blind date. It was a good look on her thin frame. The black over white was classic, and she grabbed some diamond stud earrings and put them on along with her black heels. She fluffed up her long blond hair. It was down to her waist and she knew that she needed to trim it soon before it grew any longer. She smiled at herself in the mirror. Well, maybe not a smile, it looked more like a grimace. She really wasn't looking forward to this date and she hated herself for agreeing to it.

Dear Daughter,
I’ve waited a long time for this moment and now you’re finally of dating age. I thought this talk would come easy but I’m finding it hard to set aside the little angel that first graced my life and envision the woman you are today. So many things I wished I’d taught you, showed you, given you the opportunity to experience instead of holding you back for fear of letting you go and being alone.

Float the boat
Part 1. “It is Sunday” as I crawl out of bed grunting. I wake up sweating, balling tears, another nightmare has crept in the night. This was no ordinary nightmare and it always seems to be the same one. I’m running naked with one shoe on fighting for my life in a forest with Clowns. Gosh I hate clowns. Growing up clowns was a normal part of birthday parties, movies and stupid school events ,but that never swayed my fear for these white faced creatures we call clowns. As I scroll on Twitter, swinging my feet in the air, laying in bed with my black muscle shirt and yellow panties on I notice a familiar face hit my timeline. An ex, she was gorgeous as ever with her carmel brown skin and bright red hair posing for her graduation pictures. As I double tap the picture I couldn’t help but to notice her profile picture. I clicked her profile and became sad when I noticed she was getting married to her roommate of five years. I instantly got off Twitter with the slight feeling of regret for things ending the way they did so I just laid in bed watching law and order till the sun came up.

You nabbed me at Merlot
The lights are low and I allow myself the pleasure of listening to the soft hum of whispered voices that drown out the music. The tables are spaced nicely, far enough apart that you would have to elevate your voice a notch to be heard clearly, giving each table the illusion of privacy, while remaining close enough together to be profitable for the restaurant. God, this guy is going to be an ass. I didn't and likely would never have picked this place, but here we are. First dates are always...tedious, but throw in a set up where the only information you've got is a first name, Max, and you've got yourself a party. My incredibly well-meaning mother is always meddling, especially since my brother got hitched--now I get all the heat to "settle down".

Fated First Date
Sam tugged once again at the uncomfortably high hem of the far too tiny black dress, cursing Lauren's innate ability to talk her into doing things. The date, the dress, everything tonight had been her best friend's idea. Sam had yet to even see her mystery date, but she already wanted to go home.
