Capricorn Moon
‘The moon rotates on its own axis a hundred times slower than the earth.’ ‘Really,’ she says, sipping a glass of Merlot. She seems interested, but logic tells the selenologist that he has insufficient experience with women to correctly determine her level of engagement. He continues because he’s afraid of silence. ‘The dark spots are craters filled with basalt which is a very dense material.’

The Perfect Date
My eyes popped open 30 seconds before the alarm sounded, beep beep, beep. It was 6:30 a.m. time to go to get ready for work. I showered and dressed in 45 minutes. I threw on a navy blue pant suite, white shirt, with black kitten heels. I'm 5'10 so I can get away with not wearing high heels. My make-up was very minimum black mascara with a very light pink lip gloss, and a smokey eye. I threw my hair up in a sloppy pony tail; before feeding my cat Jasper, and heading out for work. I was a bank teller at First National Bank of Philadelphia. It was the largest bank in Pennsylvania. I just became head teller last Friday, my co-workers were throwing me a little celebration when he walked in the front glass doors of the bank looking polished and dreamy. He stood in line and I went over to greet him.

The Virtual Speed Dating, Wine Tasting Extravaganza
She begrudgingly joined the first annual social distancing, speed dating and wine tasting event put on by a local social group. Her friend promised her it would be legit because David’s friend Sandra’s cousin’s boyfriend was putting it on and he works for a local matchmaking company. It was Valentine’s Day and she honestly had nothing better to do. Logging into the video conference was easy enough. She had her trusty glass of Merlot by her side. That would be enough for her even if the company for the evening was a drag.

Making a Move
“Can I ask you a question?” Drew didn't bother looking up from the paperwork on his desk. “Nope.” I gazed at him across the oak expanse that separated our workstations. We'd worked together for months now, and had never really had a conversation. He wasn't rude, per se, but he also didn't encourage idle chit-chat. Maybe he just didn't like having a female desk mate.

The Cling On Date
It was a night like any other, or so I thought. I had been working on my next manuscript for the last several hours. I tend to get lost in my own little world when I am writing. There was music playing low in the background of my bedroom. This is where I choose to write most of the time, with either classic rock or country creating a little noise to help me relax so I can concentrate and get lost in the words on the page. When I write I turn my phone to silent so that I am not interrupted every five minutes with a text or a notification that so and so are now in a relationship or Betty Jean, or Bobbie Sue painted their room purple with blue flakes... Or so facebook tells me. Of course this is also to avoid the insistent nagging from my friend to set me up on yet another bad date. And she feels that she needs to do this because, well I guess because I have not had a decent date in well I don't remember the last one.

A Date in Two Parts
Henry. Henry arrived an hour and half early, as was his right as an obsessive neurotic. He had been ready for the date for several hours, but had elected to spend the best part of the remaining three ruminating over his journey. He was familiar with it, but still found it worthy of concern on account of having never made it in the dark before. This made Henry, in many respects, much closer to the age of 65 than to 25.

Little Blackbird Restaurant
Little Blackbird Restaurant Roblynn Hunnisett March 23, 2021 It was Friday and it meant date-night at the Little Blackbird Restaurant. You never knew who would walk through those large custom wine- glass wooden doors with the wrought-iron blackbird handles. But date-night generally brought 3 types of couples into our unique little corner. I watched them all because one could never get enough entertainment, which included an amount of joy.
