Giving With Both Hands

Why Continued Giving is More Critical Than Ever Before

By Conley WolfswinkelPublished 4 days ago 3 min read

There are so many different ways to make a difference in the world around you. One can sign up for a volunteer organization, adopt, donate to charity, or become more active in their community, you name it. For philanthropists, consistent giving can be one of the most impactful ways to give back to an organization or support a cause.

Continued giving is one of the best ways to make a continuing and lasting difference in the world, knowing your money is going towards causes that you believe in. It’s also more important than ever, as inflation and funding are causing more organizations to struggle.

The money you commit to donate on a regular basis can have a monumenal impact on the health and longevity of a nonprofit organization. Here's how your repeat donation can help benefit those in need:

Providing Essential Services

Supporting charities and nonprofit organizations is how the average person helps provide essential services to others. In other words, it helps to support the community by ensuring everyone has the bare necessities.

Continued giving helps these organizations further by providing reliable and regular support for their initiatives and goals. According to one study, nearly forty percent of all revenue for charitable organizations comes from recurring donations. In other words, continued giving accounts for almost half of all revenue for the average nonprofit.

These monthly donations are often counted on and can have quite an impact on yearly planning. When an organization feels comfortable with a set level of donations, it can more easily plan its future.

Investing in the Future

Philanthropy is about investing in the future and making a lasting impact through donations. Sometimes, those donations come in a lump sum at the beginning of a project; other times, they come in the form of continued giving.

In either case, philanthropists can ensure that the efforts they care about are supported through these measures. They can choose the initiatives and organizations they want to support, make a direct change, and invest in the future they want to see.

Improving Cash Flow

When most people think of making a difference through donations, they usually picture a large lump sum of money. There’s no denying the benefit of this sort of donation - but other donations can also make a difference.

Let’s look at this differently: most nonprofits receive a significant amount of their funds during the holiday season during the season of giving, when we are encouraged to donate and most people feel generous with their money. This cash flow is appreciated, but if this were all they received, it's difficult to stretch one season's donations to last for an entire year.

Continued giving and monthly donations can help increase an organization’s cash flow by providing predictable revenue streams throughout the year, allowing it to more regularly allocate resources where needed.

Balancing Out

The world has become more unbalanced than ever, with a small part of the population holding an increasingly record-breaking amount of wealth. Simply put, this means continued giving is needed more than ever before. Where the wealth flourishes in one sector, it forces others to go without it.

In today's world, oftentimes those who cannot afford what they need go without. What helps to keep some people alive is benevolent action from charitable organizations. By giving to charitable organizations, you can help bridge the gap between those who have and those who do not.

One of the most important ways to help out another person is the sharing of resources, and one of the best resources you can share is money. Sharing resources with the less fortunate is a critical part of nonprofit work.
