Worst Date That Lead to Worst Breakup
I'll give you a little background on my ex-boyfriend. We'll call him George. Now, George was Hispani, about five foot five; he had dark brown curly locks, and these beautiful green eyes. George and I met during my senior year when I was a teacher's assistant for one of my old teachers, and that class was full of juniors. Yes. George was a junior and I was senior. He was this shy fellow who hardly caused trouble or misbehaved. In fact, we started talking because he caught me looking at memes during class. George was absolutely hilarious. We would have conversations about the most random topics and it never got boring. Our first date was at the movie theater like every other typical couple, except we were not a couple yet, and I had no idea that this was a date.

Hands up if you use Tinder more like a game? If you get a match, you stare at your screen in complete bewilderment? Hands up if you collect matches like stamps? Never to be used, just looked upon in wonderment of what could’ve been… If you only summed up the courage to crack the cheesiest line you know. Hands up if you have crossed the line and spoken to these relative strangers, only to find they belong in the valley of freaks or are amateur dick models? Now, hands up if you’ve been through all of this and gone on a date with a match? (Hook ups not included, not much talking occurs on these apart from asking about condoms and taxi numbers). To those who made it through my somewhat painful hand holding up survey and answered yes to any of them, you’re a hero. Playing this single game is not easy, if anything it’s far from the glamour portrayed in Sex and the City or similar programmes. It actually verges on dull.

So back when I was still single and ready to mingle, I finally gave Tinder a try after many failed attempts at meeting people in real life. I was just too weird and awkward to start conversations with strangers face-to-face and I had no idea if they found me attractive or not. I sort of thought Tinder was a way of "giving up." Like yup, you've finally admitted it to yourself, you suck at social interaction. Welcome to being a Millennial.

Strap in, folks. This is going to get wholesome (and gross). *** It was a dark and stormy night... Just kidding, it was a mind-numbingly normal and boring night. Couldn't have been less interesting if it tried, in fact. I was laying in bed on a Saturday night, and I'm pretty sure I had only gotten up that day to pee and eat. I wasn't depressed or anything, just lazy.

I’m going to tell you about #myworstdate ever. The story begins after I had just played a show in downtown Las Vegas. As I had just finished helping the other bandmates pack up their equipment — I know, I was the best lead singer to ever have lived, because most lead singers do not help anybody do anything, but I digress — I ran into two boys (let’s call them boys, because they clearly were not men) and one of them was hitting on our bassist’s mom, who is super hot by the way, so I wouldn’t blame them for doing that.

Dating hazards are real. I couldn't make this up if I had to. #MyWorstDate A few years ago, I was on a dating site looking for love. That was my first of many, many mistakes. I had an amazing profile on a popular dating app. It was in October and Halloween was coming up. A guy named Ben messaged me and we had been chatting on the app for a few days—nothing serious. He finally asked me if I would like to travel to the next town to attend a Zombie Crawl Festival with him. My response was “Sure. I love Halloween. We can go as friends.” He then stated he would pick me up the next day. I agreed.

I’d been planning the date for weeks. Sixteen weeks, to be exact. I knew the train schedule, the cost of a ticket, the exact table I’d wanted to reserve at the candlelit restaurant by the coast. There was just one issue. I hadn’t asked Jess yet.

Back in 2012 I was younger, foolish and very naïve. I still am those things somewhat, but when I look back nearly six years ago, I cringe deeply.

I was in fifth grade; tall, smart, studious and athletic. I loved to swim, had a few really close friends, good grades, and a happy family to go home to everyday. My parents kept my busy with swim class, after school activities and a brother and sister each to chase after constantly, but despite all that, I was a daydreamer. I loved music and was actively playing piano as well as just beginning to write my own songs at the time. I was a happy kid, and life was easy. This is the story of one of the fondest memories of my childhood.

The age we live in could probably be described as the WORST TIME TO DATE. Ever. Everyone is so self-absorbed that you can’t start a conversation on the street; people are too busy on their phones.

#MyWorstDate What do you do when a date goes all wrong? I thought about this a lot. My worst date story started with one of my very first dates after my previous break up with my boyfriend of nine years. Talk about bad luck, LOL. You might have thought this date would have scarred me to never go on dating sites again, but it didn’t. I have been on many dates since, but this one takes the cake, or should I say steals the show.

Brooklyn College. I loved Brooklyn College. The time of my life, until I met my wife. I’ll set the scene further... The Year is 1982. I was 18, and living with my parents. I was painfully shy in high school, did not attend my prom, and had no friends. I received great report cards, made Honor Roll every semester, but I was not a social kind of guy. I neither watched nor played any sports. I spent my well-earned leisure time reading monster magazines and comic books, and watching old movies.
