Tinder Nightmare
Written January 18, 2018. Tinder. It's where all the wrong people look for peopleFor all the wrong reasons...I thought I learned my lesson. After every season's worth of liars,Of emotionally manipulative people.Do they not know that one does not necessarily NEEDTo be on a DATING app for the sole purpose of intercourse? And every time I turned them down, they'd beat me downAdding insults to injuries of memories past. It's their own fault that their own games never last,Never getting past my own cold, logical mind. It’s my own fault for letting it hurt me more than it needs to.
He Followed Me Home
This happened when I was 14. My friends all had dates to homecoming and I didn't, so they decided to convince this guy, lets call him DeathBomb (DB for short), to ask me to homecoming. He was nineteen. I wouldn't have agreed had I known that, but I didn't, so I did. I had no clue who this guy was. I had seen him around, but I didn't know anything about him.So we get to homecoming, my dad dropped me off and told me that if I needed anything, to call him. The night was... okay, for the most part. He was a bit touchy, but I shut him down hard. Then, the grade dances came on. If you don't know what that is, each grade has a song, and only that grade dances when that song comes on. They called for seniors, and DB left me standing there awkwardly to dance with his friends. That's when I realized that he was a senior. I was a little uncomfortable, being so young, but I waited until afterwards to talk to him.He told me he was 19, and, like this was no big deal, swept me into a slow song. Right back to touching on me. I asked if he knew I was 14. He did. He said that was awesome. Wow! Okay, yeah, time to text my dad and run girl run!

His picture popped up on my screen—a tall, dark, and handsome enough guy with an air of intellect and a suave smile. He was a PHD student in Physics, a fact I found both intimidating and arousing.
Blind Date
I was 21 and working full time at a Title Loan store. My manager and I became really close and turned into best friends. She was there to listen to all my guy trouble and let me vent whenever I needed. One day she told me her husband had a friend she wanted to set me up with. I was so desperate at the time I told her sure.

As far as bad dates go, I've had my share of them. Who hasn’t had a few bad dating experiences? So choosing just one as the worst for some would be difficult. For me, none of my bad dates were as bad as the last one. It was so horrible it changed my life forever. It started out great considering I had already gone on a few dates with this guy. He picked me up at my condo and we went to a sports bar to watch a game. It’s so crazy that I can’t even remember whether it was a big basketball or football game because much of that night still remains blurry in my mind. We ate and watched the game. While we did this we talked about our futures. I remember telling him that I wanted to go back to school to get my master’s degree. I was really starting to like him. I remember thinking he had done everything right so far and maybe, just maybe I’ll let him kiss me goodnight.

#MyWorstDate While I was in college, I was on a quest to find my prince charming. I looked everywhere, and I mean everywhere. Unfortunately, my looking led me back to high school where I clearly should have left all of those love interests.
Payment
When people talk about having the worst date ever it usually goes something like he or she was so rude, he or she was ugly, they looked nothing like their picture, the person was a narcissist, they were boring, or they didn’t pay for dinner. Well this unfortunate tale is nothing like that.

Imagine a young, reasonably attractive, shorter than expected male, with the personality of Victor Meldrew on steroids. Now, for those of you who are unfamiliar with our Vickers, he was an old man who moaned about everything, usually with the phrase “I don’t believe it!!”

If you’ve ever been nervous before a first date, or had the feeling, "maybe I shouldn’t do this," you are not alone. This was years ago, but the memories of these events have always stayed with me.

When I was still a mostly innocent adult-type person, long ago, I lived in another world called Kalamazoo, Michigan, where you can buy t-shirts that literally say, “Yes, there really is a Kalamazoo,” where the public library has a large piece of artwork that proudly displays the meaningful message: “Tattoo Sue from Kalamazoo Plays a Mean Kazoo”, the only city where Primus will open their concert set, with “A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H… I got a gal…” (sing it with me if you know it) “from Kalamazoo…” I was a freshman at Western Michigan University (go Broncos!), and I had not yet learned that frat parties for me, would be fraught with nothing but terribly awkward social interactions, gyrating hips, men with too-grabby hands, and awful music. Hence, one night, I found myself at one of these disturbing events.

#MyWorstDate It was in October, and I was still in my first semester of a university of my first year. I was dating a boy that was still in high school, and I went away to continue my education, so it was a long-distance relationship. The distance wasn't so bad, as it was only a couple of hours away, but we tried to make it work.

Just like pretty much every bad date story, I met Matt* through the dating app, Bumble (Name changed to protect identity).
