We all happen to have days when we are so tired that we feel like we can't do anything, right? You worked hard all week, you didn't get enough sleep, you had more and more things to do and your resources seemed to run out.

If you feel exhausted and fail to mobilize no matter how hard you try, it's probably time to take a day off. Forget about emergencies and homework for a day, stop thinking about what to wear, and stay home. Today is just for you: a day of rest. It may do you better than you expect.

If you want to move only for a technical break (bed-bath-bed), you will spend the day dedicated to a strong recovery in bed or on a sofa, like this one, with a few pillows and a blanket next to it, doing whatever you want. Does that sound great? We also give you 5 reasons why lazy days are well deserved.

1. Rest

Mental rest is total rest. When we let our minds wander, our attention must also be left free. To enter a state of passive invigoration, choose to do something enjoyable, effortless, such as meditating, listening to relaxing music, doing yoga or light stretching, or cultivating a hobby that does not train your attention.

2. Creativity

Think about your latest creative idea - it may not have come up when you focused on one thing, or you may not have focused on it at all when you discovered it. She may have taken a long shower, walked, read, or been completely relaxed over her morning coffee.

There is a reason why your brain chose that moment to reveal your brilliant idea. When our attention is at rest - such as when we are not concentrating or when we are simply experiencing laziness - our mind explores fascinating areas.

The places where our minds go include the future (48% of the time), the present (28%), and the past (12% of the time). For the time remaining, our minds are usually bored or waiting. The exact percentages do not matter much, but it is worth noting that letting our minds run wild can give us an overflowing imagination.

3. Planning

Research shows that we think about the future 14 times more often when our attention is scattered, compared to when we focus. We also think more often about our long-term goals when our attention is at rest.

Acting on them is another matter (which excludes laziness, of course), but giving us a break from doing nothing will allow us to remember the joy of living and then set our goals.

4. Hidden ideas

When freed from everyday thoughts and worries, our mind connects all three mental destinations: past, present, and future. This allows us to experience much more creative perspectives than when we are in a focused state.

For example, you may remember an idea you had a few weeks ago and find that it is the perfect solution to a current situation. Our most counterintuitive and wise ideas come when we are partially absent.

5. Productivity

Even if we set out to take a break and laze on the couch, it doesn't mean we have to stop our brains. Relaxation can be an interesting movie or documentary, a book to take refuge in, or a much-desired conversation with a loved one - either on the phone or in person.

We should probably be lazy more often. Whether it's mental or physical rest, sometimes the best way to do good is to do nothing.

Do you like being lazy and procrastinating all day long? While this is not a good habit, we all need inactive days from time to time.
