Have you ever sincerely considered your ancestry, those pieces of history that tie you to your origins? Maybe you have envisaged the stories of your forebears, and then you visualize the contributions of your heroes, scholars, or adventurers, among others. However, what if between your ancestors, an unwanted truth will result? What if you suddenly became associated with one of greatly documented history's most notorious individuals, someone, who indeed, has committed barbaric immoralities?

The horrifying nagging fear of ‘What if this were to repeat itself’ holds true for the grandchildren of the high-ranking Nazi officials but only as a phenomenon happening in front of their own eyes. These individuals, born into the shadows cast by their forebears, face a unique challenge: reaching the point where the national identity, thus, absorbed the memory of the Holocaust and the Third Reich legacy, disgraced by Holocaust. From adding and subtracting facts hidden from family members to the disagreement between the justice and past, the ice descendants of the Nazi leaders have to pass through a rugged path of history.

Consider how chilling it was when the feature character Magda and Joseph Goebbels, the propaganda minister, were extremely captivated and their extreme devotion anthropscapacity to Hitler. Their six children, together with the one from Magda's first marriage, became perpetrators of this increasingly fascist regime as they took part in their activities, and eventually all died in the last days of World War II. At the very moment the Red Army forced their way through the damaged Berlin walls, Magda Goebbels executed the most horrible action of killing even her offspring out of the terror of failure. In a shocking manifestation of malice shaded by fanaticism, she infused death-dealing morphine prior to cyanide pills closing their temporal cycle. These children, the Goebbels kids, who were against the whims of their hatred parents, even though they were morally innocent children, became tragical symbols of a regime's corruption.

Followed by Epda Göring, who is the daughter of Hermann Göring, Hitler's air deputy and he who created the Luftwaffe. Labeled by the Hitler's followers as the "Shirley Temple of Nazi Germany," or the "paragon of Inglorious Batrters," Edda's childhood was mixed with fame, affluence, and access to power. It is true that being in a war is an experience that gets no compare to but as the war drew to an end, I found myself like an orphan in a world that was completely different. Although she would recollect him in her fond memories later on, the darkness of that permanent shadow of his legacies was cast – which renewed the lingering thought that it was all worth it after the sacrifice for the family place in history.

For the retention of some descendant identity was not necessarily compliance with or being in favor of their ancestors' behavior. Monika Hertwig, a daughter of Amon Goeth whose ruthless cruelty is depicted by the name of "Schindler's List" concentration camp's commandant, was a victim of violence by her father. Breaking truth down for her had her going beyond self-pity to the path of repair and forgiveness. By means of the documentary "Inheritance," she was committed to get over her father's bad actions, to meet survivors and let them share their stories, and ultimately to lay declares to the truth.

In a similar vein, Niklas Frank, the son of an infamous criminals Hans Frank who was nicknamed as the "Butcher of Poland," decided to dedicate the whole of his life to revel the inhuman acts of his father even after he died. By means to an extent through books, plays and publicity statment of him, he meets the ghost metaphor that is sprouted by his father’s crimes. And defiantly of forgetting the cruelness that was staged in the name of Nazism. Such an unshakable devotion to the reality of moral fault as a piece of the whole of humanity shows the individual's conscience as a great power when collective guilt puts pressure.

As survivors stand up boldly by their discovery of the truth, we are still faced with people who stick to the old patterns of disapproval and skepticism as regards the past. Gudrun Burwitz, the daughter of Heinrich Himmler, was loyal enough and at once find distance from her father murderous crimes. As one of the members of a covert Uprisal organization "Silent Help", she did not hesitate to help out fugitive war criminals and continue with the legacy of self-deception and confusion. Resolute and immaculate her rejection of Nazism happens to serve as a striking contrast for the abiding attraction of the most heinous ideas propagated by the Nazi era.

In the later stage, following the trials and tribulations of these people add unnecessary complications. The sins of past time place heavy burdens on present generation, winding around from the previous generations to determinate the lives of generations to come. On the negative side, others argue that the indigenous residential school system perpetuated the cycle of pain and loss. However, supporters of the action note that, by facing the history of our nation, we can build a path to harmony and reconciliation. In effect, the only way we may be able to beat the darkness is by recognizing the dark sides of ourselves so we could come up with newer ways of making this world a better place for our future generations.
