The Underground City of the Believers: The Community That Chose Darkness
In the frozen wilderness of Imperial Russia, where endless forests stretched beyond the horizon and winter could swallow entire villages beneath snow and silence, rumors began circulating about a community that had vanished, not moved, not fled, but vanished.

Trump followers are in a Cult
I posted a video on social media saying I was happy to see Donald Trump's name taken off of the Kennedy Center. I feel it is a victory for democracy. Donald Trump recklessly took over the Kennedy Center last year and caused failure there. Performers boycotted him. He closed the center for unnecessary renovations to save face. A Judge ordered his name to be taken off of everything at the Kennedy Center, including the signage.

Kennedy Center Restored
Last year, Donald Trump took over the Kennedy Center. He said the programs there were "too woke." Fall out was immediate. So many performers pulled out of their shows that Donald decided to shut the center down, for "renovations." Then he decided to add his name to the signage. It now read "The Donald J. Trump and John F. Kennedy Memorial Center for the Performing Arts." Voices in congress pointed out that this was a Memorial Center to President Kennedy, and Trump should not have his name attached. One member of congress, Representative Joyce Beatty from Ohio, took action. She sued to have Donald Trump's name removed from the building.

Queens
There’s a long history of queens writing poetry, for many different reasons. If we look at the poetry of Queen Elizabeth I, we see controlled rhetoric, but when we read the poetry of Mary, Queen of Scots, we are met with lament and the language of suffering.

Cultural Mirrors of the Lindisfarne Gospels
Medieval manuscripts hold a rightfully valued place in history, in part because of the contradictions in their creation. They were lavishly decorated signifiers of wealth, but they were made by monks under vows of poverty. They were sacred for the knowledge contained within them, but in regular use during a time when literacy was unfathomably low by today’s standards. But it is in these contradictions that there is also much to be learned. Both from the texts themselves and in how they reflect the cultures that created them. And it is through this that we can see how these cultures are in conversation with each other.

Portrayals of Exodus
The story of Moses is one of the most renowned stories in the Abrahamic religions. The parable of the adopted son of a Pharaoh’s daughter returning to his people, the Hebrews, and acting as a messenger for both the wrath and salvation of God is of an epic quality that to this day has a hold on the creative minds of people of these faiths. Many pieces of art have been created depicting the Ten Plagues of Egypt, which feature prominently in this story. Today, we will be looking at the depictions of these events, in particular the 4th, 7th, and 10th plagues, as they are illustrated in the religious text, the Sarajevo Haggadah.
