Trump followers are in a Cult

I posted a video on social media saying I was happy to see Donald Trump's name taken off of the Kennedy Center. I feel it is a victory for democracy. Donald Trump recklessly took over the Kennedy Center last year and caused failure there. Performers boycotted him. He closed the center for unnecessary renovations to save face. A Judge ordered his name to be taken off of everything at the Kennedy Center, including the signage.

A woman from Wyoming, where Trump's approval rating is higher than the national average, said I was "A child of the Devil," for supporting "evil democrats." She said Trump was sent by God to fix America. She offered me hope, if I repent quickly of my opinion. I told her I used to be an Evangelical Christian. I spoke her language, but I found a better way. When I told her I was sending her negativity back to her, she called me a witch.

I thought being called the devil's child and a witch for being a democrat was really funny. She told me I was deceived but if I turned to Jesus, God would open my eyes to the truth. Apparently to her, Trump is the second coming.

This sounds crazy to most people, but many Christians have become captive to Christian Nationalism. They believe, despite his horrible "family values," like lusting over his own daughter and being accused and convicted of rape that he represents God. They don't listen to reason. They follow blindly.

The word cult comes from the Latin word cultus. Cultus means worship. Cults are made up of people who give up critical thinking in exchange for group thinking. Having a common set of beliefs is not necessarily bad. It becomes harmful when believers ignore the glaring imperfections of the individual they are following because he or she is "sent by God." Cult leaders tend to be charming, charismatic, manipulative individuals. Like serial killers. Sometimes they are serial killers, like Jim Jones. He lead nearly 1,000 followers to commit suicide.

Donald Trump speaks Christianeze. He knows he can pretend to be God's vessel by saying the right things. Christians believe in redemption. They accept him because he claims to have accepted Christ as his savior. He is also anti abortion, anti trans, and says he protects Christian "rights."

Part of leading a cult, is indoctrination. Christianity already has some doctrine that is similar to Trump's vision for America, but only some. Many Christians, including the Pope, have come out against his immigration policies that are cruel and unlike Christ.

When Donald Trump ran the first time, I was a registered Republican. I was also a Christian. I was horrified that he was chosen as the Republican candidate. He was so clearly posing as someone he was not. While also, making fun of disabled people and talking about sexually assaulting women. I changed parties that year. I could not vote him in. He was voted in regardless.

Then he wouldn't leave. I watched the January 6 riot on TV in real time. I watched for hours while the few guards sent to protect the Capital were beaten and pushed back. I watched as the individuals involved raided the Capital and threatened lives. Donald Trump was silent for hours. He wanted it to happen. Some Republicans said he should be punished, but it was all talk. He ran again, and since then has run roughshod over America. Still, the Republican party won't stand up to him. The party of Trump refuse to see how dangerous he is to democracy, or they like that he is. They worship him. They are a cult who use scripture to defend a bad man, who is on his way down.
