On 16th of February, 2024 when the untimely death of Alexei Navalny happened, another chapter in the tumultuous process of Russian politics was closed. The eight-year-long battle for life of one of the most symbolic opposition figures in Russia, often seen as the beacon of hope for a reformed and democratic country, came to an end in a Siberian prison where he died. His death begs the question: The question reflects the fact that it is difficult to explain why Putin had arranged the death and why he was waiting so long.

Navaly's way was Russian politics and it abounded in challenges and controversies .Even though Navalny was considered to be a challenging personality for Putin, his appearance as a popular figure among the younger people and the West brought him to a greater influence trajectory. The story of his first political activities within parties such as Yabloko through to the civilian movement, National Russian Liberation Movement, testifies to his desire to reform the system of doing things.

However, although Navalny's liberal democratic values might be appealing to some, he has also allied himself with far-right nationalist groups, and his remarks about racial divide and superiority may be seen as racist.Despite that he had stated his concerns over this war on corruption in government, his past affiliations raised speculations both domestically and abroad.

The point of turn around for the Navalny came during the 2011 Russian parliamentary elections characterized by allegations of fraud which led to mass protests in Moscow. The most prominent action in his political biography was his incarceration for refusing to comply with the demands of state officials - the same officials who had been previously accused of corruption and persecution - which only made him look like the most potential leader among the other opponents of Putin.

The 2020 von Navalny auroff poisoning case which involved the use of nerve agent demonstrated the extent to which Putin was willing to go in killing dissent.Barely out of it, Navalny again returned to Russian homeland in 2021 but was jailed this time, again sparking protests all over the country.

This decision, however, did nothing to allay suspicions he had employed strategic politicking behind closed doors.Their blunt removal was considered a violation of tough international politics and danger to domestic tranquility.Meanwhile, the former political prisoner Navalny received growing public support and the Kremlin leader was under the increasing pressure to go along with the electoral fraud the television broadcasting campaign focusing on the incumbent’s achievements was yet another means to influence the electorate.

Putin's domination of state power suddenly encountered the toughest times in his rule, getting severely complicated after the Ukrainian invasion and introduction of international sanctions.Navalny's execution in 2024 served as a dual-purpose move for Putin: He then proposes candidates that will support his party. Moreover, he stays in campaign mode and starts challenging the opposing party and its candidates. At the end, he publicly announces himself as the new ruler of the nation.

Instead, Nelson has not been tortured by hus government to death, at least for now - Putin has made it very clear that he is ready to use any means to remain in power, including silencing his political foes. However, the unintended consequences of the death of a man like Nelsoncould spark like a match that would create a chain of future events that will ultimately lead to change..

After Russia goes to elections and becomes next in line the shadow of Navalny has brought the country a real fight against the rule of many years regime of authoritarianism. It is not clear whether Putin’s gamble would bring about positive fruits or create negative consequences to his persona, but despite that it still hides the picture of resisting the autocracy that Navalny has offered.
