Ever since the late 2000's entertainment as a whole had started to lose its spark.And has times been moving forward, entertainment has been moving backwards I remember first going to see movies in theatres and getting so excited I couldn't sleep the day before and my mother would have to stay up with me until I go to sleep. Back then there was a sense of enjoyment and excitement in seeing movies in theatres and it wasn't just movies. Staying up past my bedtime to finish a campaign on my PlayStation, or waiting an entire week just to watch a single episode of a new anime on a grainy television screen, those moments felt like magic. Entertainment had a soul. Fast forward to today, and that magic feels like it has been sucked dry by a corporate vacuum. We are drowning in a sea of content, yet starving for actual substance. I think I speak for everyone when I say this: we need more rom-coms! Not to make things too real and depressing, but the world is falling apart. Every day, every week, there seems to be a new tragedy, a new horrific headline in the news. At times it feels difficult, almost impossible, to find any sort of solace amongst all the pain and suffering. Rom-coms have the power to do that for me. They're the best kind of movies to throw on when I need a pick-me-up, the best kind of movies to press play on and disconnect from the atrocities of the world for a couple of hours.
