Welcome To The Jungle Review: Akshay Kumar Returns With A Crazy Family Comedy Ride
Welcome To The Jungle is not about logic — it is about laughter, nostalgia, Akshay Kumar’s madness, and a theatre full of happy audiences.

Watching Welcome To The Jungle in an almost 90% full theatre was honestly a satisfying experience. After seeing back-to-back Akshay Kumar movies struggle with opening-day crowds, watching families, kids, youngsters, and even older audiences laughing and clapping together felt refreshing.
But the biggest question everyone had before watching the film was — when the makers called it a “Family Universe” movie, was it really suitable for family audiences? Because some of the actresses’ statements created a completely different confusion. So here is the honest answer.
In the last five or six years, I have rarely seen an audience laugh this openly inside a theatre. From children to youngsters and senior citizens, everyone was enjoying the madness. The jokes, reactions, and silly situations were getting genuine laughter.
Yes, the censor board made several cuts in the film, especially because of some close-up shots featuring Disha Patani. But whatever remains in the final version is neither adult comedy nor filled with double-meaning jokes. It is mostly clean, old-school comedy based on timing, expressions, and complete madness.
The interesting thing about Welcome To The Jungle is that the makers have filled the movie with so many actors because every character gets a chance to create funny moments. The film keeps throwing random jokes at you — some are completely ridiculous, but somehow they work because of the energy and performances.
Akshay Kumar’s entry with the song “Ghiss Ghiss Ghiss” in a Bhojpuri-style presentation itself tells you what kind of movie you are watching. If you want to enjoy Welcome To The Jungle, you have to leave logic, common sense, and seriousness outside the theatre.
This is a movie meant to be watched with a group of people, especially family members, where the only job is to listen, laugh loudly, and enjoy the craziness.
The makers have smartly used the nostalgia of the old Welcome franchise. Bringing back the memories of Uday, Majnu, and adding new characters is clearly an attempt to recreate that old magic.
But if you have already watched the trailer, the story is almost an open book. Actually, the biggest weakness of Welcome To The Jungle is that it does not focus much on a strong storyline. It is more about comedy situations and the madness created by the huge star cast.
There are moments where logic completely disappears. Some VFX scenes look weak, and you start wondering what exactly you are watching. But surprisingly, that becomes part of the movie’s crazy charm.
Imagine a film where Akshay Kumar plays a completely over-the-top character, a fake world of armies and terrorists is created, jungle adventures happen, and every scene tries to increase the madness.
The biggest surprise of the film is Akshay Kumar’s “two-in-one” character. Why it happens, how it happens, and where it comes from becomes one of the funniest sequences of the movie.
The first half flies by because of nonstop comedy. The interval sequence, especially the special song featuring Akshay Kumar and Disha Patani, is something fans should not miss.
Among the supporting characters, Lara Dutta’s entry creates some hilarious moments. But the real scene-stealer is Farida Jalal’s character. Her dialogues and comic timing, along with Johnny Lever’s madness, created some of the loudest laughs in the theatre.
However, two actors could not match the energy of the film. Disha Patani’s performance remains the weakest part. Her role does not add much impact to the story. The second disappointment is Paresh Rawal. Seeing an actor of his level getting limited and less entertaining scenes feels disappointing.
And then comes Akshay Kumar. This man completely owns the film. He performs like someone who knows exactly how to make people laugh by making fun of himself. Whether it is his chemistry with Suniel Shetty, his scenes with Raveena Tandon, or his hilarious moments with Jackie Shroff, Akshay proves once again why he remains one of the best comedy actors in Indian cinema.
If the climax had been stronger and closer to the magic of the original Welcome, this could have become a favourite family entertainer.
My rating for Welcome To The Jungle is 3 out of 5 stars.
It is not a perfect film, but it delivers exactly what it promises — madness, laughter, nostalgia, and full family entertainment.
Go with your family, forget logic for two hours, and allow your inner child to enjoy the madness.
