Movie Review: 'The Two Popes' is Netflix's Overlooked Triumph
There have been only three Popes in my lifetime and only one of them has been slightly relevant to my life. Pope Francis, the modern Pope, has held me in thrall on a few occasions, specifically during his first days on Twitter when he was charming the world. And then, in the documentary about his time as Pope and how he was dragging the Catholic church out of the dark ages with one modern touch after another.
Sean PatrickPublished 4 years ago in GeeksPaul Williams is back and looking great on Them Young and the Restless’
Doug Davidson fans will finally get a glimpse of their favorite character Paul Williams on the next episode of The Young and the Restless. The original air date for this program was supposed to be Friday December 20. The impeachment hearings, however, have thrown everything off so it may not be shown until Monday or Tuesday. In this episode Paul shows up at the coffee house and has a chat with Chance. Doug Davidson looks really great in his suit and tie and it’s a pleasure to see him again. The actor was rehired on a recurring basis but has only been seen sporadically since. Spoiler alerts indicate that next week, Paul and Christine will double date with Michael and Lauren. Fenmore Baldwin is supposed to return to Genoa City for the holidays but because of the delays, he might not be seen until after Christmas.

Virgil knew regrets wouldn't change anything? Why did he decide against running errands with everyone else? Why did he decline Patton's offer to stay behind in case he was needed? Why did he insist on being alone? He never planned for an attack, but there he was suffering alone with no one to console him. He hugged himself close as his eyes shut tight and breathing was out of his control.

Being married should be the happiest day of a woman's life--but this certainly is not the case for Kate Paulson (Cindy Busby). Soon after marrying Alex Atkins (Mark Milburn), Kate is stunned to learn that a secret of Alex's: he had been told by his father he would only get his grandmother's inheritance if he married. Trevor WellsPublished 4 years ago in GeeksA Filmmaker's Review: "The Man Who Laughs" (1928)
"The Man Who Laughs" (1928) is one of those films that has a legacy attached to it, often quite different to the film itself. Whilst the general public are terrified by the laughing man, the film itself is a romantic drama. The film is a perfect 'rainy day' film and has a dramatic storyline in which a woman falls in love with the 'freak' of the town - the laughing man. Now, I've seen this film a few times and since, I have come to really appreciate it even though I'm not a fan of romantic films at all. Let's take a look at how we got here:
Annie KapurPublished 4 years ago in GeeksA Filmmaker's Review: "Synecdoche, New York" (2008)
This film is an incredible and immersive experience when it comes to filmmaking. Like "Inception" (2010) after it and "Memento" (2000) before it, "Synecdoche, New York" (2008) feels like it is directed by Christopher Nolan, but it isn't. It is an incredible, sensitive movie with a high design quality - it makes the most of every single main actor in the cast. It is confusing as hell if you only watch the film once as a one off and I believe that to truly understand it, you have to watch it a couple of times over the course of a few years. So, let's explore how I did that...
Annie KapurPublished 4 years ago in GeeksA Filmmaker's Review: "M" (1931)
Starring Peter Lorre, this film is one of the finest examples of Early German Cinema there is and because I loved it so much, I was actually initially thinking about doing my PhD in ... and prepare yourself... "The Impacts of Early German and Weimar Cinema on Post-1970 Modern and Post-Modern American Horror Films." I know, right. Influencing the state of horror/thriller and murder films right from the beginning, "M" (1931) is a constant classic that, since I first discovered it, I couldn't stop watching over and over. I looked especially at how much we have learnt from Lang's film. Let's look at my history with this classic then...
Annie KapurPublished 4 years ago in Geeks'Jumanji: The Next Level' Review—Effortlessly Entertaining
Question! Is this movie considered Jumanji 2 or Jumanji 3? Because it's the direct sequel to Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, but if Welcome to the Jungle is considered Jumanji 2, then this is Jumanji 3, right?
Jonathan SimPublished 4 years ago in GeeksWhy Lynda Johnson is Unlikable Enough to Derail 'Driven to Dance'
According to Vocal, it was eleven months ago that I reviewed On Pointe/Driven to Dance, an independently funded film that started its life on the film festival market under the title On Pointe before making the leap to Netflix as Driven to Dance--distributed by frequent Lifetime movie flyer MarVista Entertainment. My review gave the film a 9 out of 10 and spoke praises about it, with one of my praises being revolved around the character of Lynda Johnson--the mother of main protagonist Paige (played beautifully by Juliet Doherty), claiming her character arc was a powerful one that was done well.
Trevor WellsPublished 4 years ago in Geeks'Y&R' Fans Debate who Phyllis Will Sink Her Claws Into Next
Recently on The Young and the Restless, the opening scene of previous episodes revealed something quite interesting. They showed Phyllis and Jack in the elevator when she gave birth to Summer. This is the first time the CBS daytime drama has gone back that far in time. Some viewers believe this indicates that the former spouses might eventually get back together. Josh Griffith, the executive producer of the show said he brought Michelle Stafford back because he had a vision in mind. He also stated that he wants to bring back the glory days in Genoa City. Could the shot of the birth of Nick's daughter be a clue of the direction things are headed? On Summer's birthday she received a text from her former step dad/ father in law that said, I love you. This may mean nothing but when you put it together with everything else, viewers are forming their own opinions.
