Jide OkonjoPublished 4 years ago in GeeksMy Review of "La vie scolaire - School Life"
La vie scholaire or School Life kept on popping up on my Netflix suggestions. I was a big fan of another French film called Bad Seeds which had a similar story direction so I decided to take the plunge. This movie is far from similar to Bad Seeds. It's a more realistic and grittier approach than Bad Seeds. You'll have admiration for some of the characters whereas others you won't for different reasons.

The Twilight Saga changed me as a person. Well, more specifically, the Twilight Saga: Eclipse. On an offensively hot summer day in Citrus Park, Florida, a 13-year-old me persuaded my dad, a bona fide horror and sci-fi buff, to buy us two tickets to Eclipse with the promise of bloody conflict between vampires and werewolves. I thank God every day that my dad, also a bona fide workaholic, didn't have time to keep up with the latest pop culture and thus did not even know what Twilight was.

Mel Carver (Jennifer Landon) was grateful to have met her boyfriend Ben Shields (Josh Close). After her husband's death left Mel to raise her daughter Brook (Tara Redmond Van Rees) on her own, Ben initially appeared to be just what Mel was looking for, with his moving in with Mel allowing him to grow close to Brook as well. But now, Mel feels she's rushed her relationship with Ben and no longer thinks they're right for each other. With that, Mel breaks up with Ben and asks him to move out, with Ben (while upset) seemingly accepting how Mel feels.
