Astrology of the 2020 Elections: Donald Trump

Part 12 of a really long series

Introduction

In 2016, I saw that the astrological community was very divided on who was going to win the presidential elections, but I noticed that these astrologers had one thing in common: their predictions were driven more by bias than astrology. Hilary Clinton supporters were predicting her win, while Trump supporters predicted his win. Not once did I see a Democrat predict Trump's victory nor did a Republican predict Clinton's. For someone actually wanting to study astrology, it was very disappointing.

This election, I want to see predictions based not on bias or personal opinion, but on actual astrology. This election, I'm going to give my own take on 2019's election. It's not that I don't have any biases—I obviously do—but when it comes down to it, I'm not really for any politician, so my predictions are not based on who I want to win (there are definitely some candidates I hate less than others), but who I think is going to win. As I'm writing this, I'm still not sure—it might even be Trump (I hope not)! It depends on the birth charts, transits, progressions and return charts of everybody running. My source for presidential candidates is ballotpedia.org, and while I must confess there are a few names I haven't heard of before, I included them in an effort to be fair.

I was originally going to write one big long article about the election, but because the article got to be too long, WAY TOO LONG, I decided to separate it into parts. I'm going to analyze the charts of each candidate in alphabetical order by last name. If there's someone I'm missing, please feel free to let me know. Since Mike Bloomberg entered the campaign late, this article has been a departure from my original plan regarding alphabetical order.

The Natal Chart of Donald Trump

Donald Trump is an American businessmen, television personality (most famous for his reality TV show "The Apprentice") and 45th president of the United States. He is currently running for his second term, under the Republican ballot. To learn more about his campaign for the next 4 years, click here.

Donald Trump has an interesting chart because not only was he born on a Full Moon but he was born on a total lunar eclipse. Those born on eclipses often have larger than life personalities and a connection with destiny. With the North Node conjunct his Sun, in the sign of Gemini, his destiny is related to communication as well as versatility. He is a jack of all trades, master of none - businessman, television personality and now president. With his North Node-Sun conjunct in the 10th, he was born to be the center of attention. He is ambitious and career-driven, an opportunist, but with the North Node and Sun conjunct Uranus, he is destined to shake things up. He is a wild card and does what he wants, regardless of whether or not you like it. Jupiter in Libra trine his Sun-North Node-Uranus conjunction indicates good luck especially in regards to career matters. Since Jupiter is in the 2nd house, he will likely make a lot of money.

With Moon in Sagittarius conjunct his South Node, however, he is blunt about his emotions. He likely has a sarcastic sense of humor as well. His shoot-from-the-hip approach to communication could be his downfall. With a Leo Ascendant, Donald Trump is someone who feels most comfortable being the center of attention. He may be narcissistic and full of himself. With a Leo Mars three degrees shy of the Ascendant, trine his Sagittarius Moon, especially, he may get very angry if he doesn't get his way. He will likely respond to any criticism, no matter how constructive, with aggression. The combination of Leo and Sagittarius energies gives Donald Trump an outspoken, arrogant and fiery personality. Astrologers love to point out that his Leo Ascendant at 29 degrees is conjunct the star Regulus, one of the brightest stars in the sky. Regulus is a fixed star, historically known as "the kingmaker," denoting a very regal personality. It is a sign of royalty and many astrologers think it means Donald Trump was destined for leadership. On the flip side, however, it can also denote a fall from grace if the native doesn't use their power ethically.

There is also a lot of Cancer energy. With Mercury, Venus and Saturn in Cancer, Donald Trump may be more sensitive than the media makes him out to be. His Cancer planets fall into his 11th house, making Trump a very social person concerned with the affairs of the world around him. While his Gemini, Sagittarius, and Leo placements make him seem like a loudmouth, with Mercury in Cancer, he probably doesn't reveal everything that he thinks. He may be more intuitive than he lets on. With Venus conjunct Saturn in this Moon-ruled sign, he is very security-orientated. He is family-orientated, and self-protective. Since Venus rules his 2nd house, I think it's likely that his emotional security depends on how secure he is financially. He enjoys luxury, and material goods. He is driven to protect himself and those closest to him.

Donald Trump's Transits

Here are Donald Trump's transits for the 2020 general election in November.

With transiting Neptune in Pisces making a square to his Sun in Gemini and Moon in Sagittarius, Donald Trump can be very deluded. He may be deluded about his own capabilities or resort to escapism instead of addressing the problems that are at hand. It could create problems for him if he looks the other way and loses sight of the threats are ahead of him. On the other hand, this could also mean he's deceiving others.

Meanwhile, transiting Jupiter, Pluto, and Saturn in Capricorn and Mercury Retrograde in Libra make an t-square to his Venus-Saturn conjunction in Cancer. Beyond potentially creating problems in his love life or personal life, his social expression may be limited in general. He might be extra prone to miscommunication and "gaffes" around this time that could cause him to lose favor with women voters especially.

But with transiting Mercury Rx sextile his Ascendant-Mars conjunct in Leo, and with transiting Mars in Aries sextile his Sun and trine his Moon, he speaks with a confidence that may appeal to certain groups of people, especially men, but since these aspects are very wide, their influence is limited. He'll benefit more, however, from transiting Uranus in Taurus' sextile to his natal Mercury in Cancer which is nearly exact. There may be a certain ingenuity to his ideas that appeals to people. Ideas may come to him in a flash, and he benefits from appearing to be "against the grain."

What's most interesting, and beneficial, for Trump, however, is that the general election in November corresponds almost exactly around the time of his Nodal Return. It is especially interesting since, as mentioned before, the Nodes play a huge role in his chart. The North Node in Gemini is conjunct his Sun in the 10th house, as well. He is coming into his purpose. It looks as if - for better or for worse - leading this country... or leading something... being in the public eye, at least - is part of his destiny. Of course, you could also argue that on the flip side of that, the South Node is conjunct his Moon in the 4th. While things look more positive than negative here, as for as Trump is concerned, whether he wins or loses may depend partially on his karma, how he has handled himself within the last 4 years. Has he been living up to his purpose? It's a win! Has he been failing, falling back on the bad habits of his past? It's a loss!

Donald Trump's Progressions

Here is Donald Trump's Progressed Chart for the 2020 General Election. First things first, with a stellium, consisting of the Sun, Mercury conjunct Pluto, and Saturn, all in the 10th house, Donald Trump is currently very focused on his career. He is thrust right front and center in the public eye. Even more so, since three of these progressed planets are all in Leo, the sign of the lion and king of the jungle. With Mercury conjunct Pluto here, he speaks with power and conviction and holds a great sway over people. This does look like the progressed chart of someone in public office. With the Progressed Sun in Virgo, he is discerning, hard-working and things his decisions through. While the Sun is un-aspected, Mercury and Pluto make a sextile to Uranus and the North Node in the 8th house, showing destiny spontaneously working out in his favor, and another sextile to planets in the 12th house, another indicator of good luck.

While the 10th house stellium shows lots of time spent in the public eye, the 12th house Libra stellium consisting of Neptune, Mars, Chiron, Venus and Jupiter points to a lot of time spent behind the scenes. Perhaps no one knows the true agenda of Donald Trump. With Mars conjunct Neptune in the 12th, there could be hidden enemies conspiring against him, but with the two benefics, Venus and Jupiter here, and trine North Node and Uranus, I think it's even more likely that there are hidden benefactors conspiring in his favor. Libra is Mars' Fall but Venus' domicile. This shows that his benefactors are strong while his enemies are weak. With Venus conjunct Chiron, however, there is also of course a possibility of domestic problems or love affairs with women that are hidden from public view.

A progressed Virgo Moon in the 11th house indicates that social organizations will play a big role in his life, which can be expected from a politician. He may be very social, spending a lot of times with friends as well. But with Uranus and the North Node square the Moon, there will be a lot of sudden changes and disruptions that disturb his emotional life. He may win the presidency, but that doesn't necessarily mean he will be able to handle all the changes that come at him, the responsibilities that come his way, and the circumstances that are forcing him to change, adapt and evolve. With Uranus conjunct the North Node, a revolution may be destined to come, threatening Trump's sense of security.

Donald Trump's Return Charts

Here is Donald Trump's Solar Return for the upcoming year, from June 13th 2020 to June 13th 2021. The first thing I notice is that his Gemini Sun is square the Moon in Pisces. The Sun square the Moon in the chart indicates an important and climactic year, a year of beginnings, endings, changes and milestones.

The Ascendant in a Solar Return chart symbolizes the personality one takes on for the year ahead. With the Ascendant in Cancer, Donald Trump is moody, nostalgic, emotional, protective and withdrawn. With Cancer Mercury in the 12th house, he is less communicative than he normally is, and may keep his thoughts to himself.

The Moon, the Ascendant ruler, is in Pisces, trine the Ascendant, conjunct Neptune & Mars, and square the Sun. With Moon in the 9th house, there are likely to be changes in his belief system or ideology. It may be a year of travel or a year of intense learning. With the Moon conjunct Neptune, there may be changes regarding his spiritual beliefs. He may be getting in touch with his more spiritual side. Since Mars is conjunct Neptune, Donald Trump may lack the will to fight, preferring compassion and diplomacy, or if he does fight, he'll do it through evasive means rather than confront things head on.

The Sun is conjunct the North Node in the 12th house, showing a lot of time spent behind the scenes. The 12th house is often regarded as an ill fortunate house, ruling over prisons, hospitals and monasteries. It's possible he could be imprisoned or hospitalized in the year to come, but he'll likely spend a lot of time in isolation regardless. This isolation could lead to some sort of inner development (Sun conjunct Neptune) but the Moon in the 9th shows a desire to get out there and explore the world. His need for adventure and knowledge conflicts with the need to isolate himself.

Venus Retrograde in the 11th house could indicate old friends coming back into his life. Meanwhile, the Jupiter and Pluto conjunction in the 7th house indicates intense, transformative and beneficial relationships and interactions with others.

Uranus in the 10th indicates big and shocking changes in regards to Donald Trump's career and Chiron close to the MC indicates some pain and/or healing involved.

Conclusion

So will Donald Trump win another 4 years? With so much 10th house energy, and aspects to the North and South Node on top of that, it is certainly possible. Trump's supporters may be right: Trump may very well be destined for presidency. On the other hand, however, there is also a lot of 12th house energy as well, which tells a different story, maybe even one of hospitalization and/or imprisonment. The 12th house, like the Nodes, are all about karma. So I think Donald Trump's destiny lies in how he behaves. He may win, but as heavy Uranus energy indicates, if he doesn't behave according to universal principles, his empire may fall. Trump might win but his victory may trigger a revolution before his next term actually starts.
