Astrology of the 2020 Elections: Steve Bullock

Part 4 of a really long series

Introduction

In 2016, I saw that the astrological community was very divided on who was going to win the presidential elections, but I noticed that these astrologers had one thing in common: their predictions were driven more by bias than astrology. Hilary Clinton supporters were predicting her win, while Trump supporters predicted his win. Not once did I see a Democrat predict Trump's victory nor did a Republican predict Clinton's. For someone actually wanting to study astrology, it was very disappointing.

This election, I want to see predictions based not on bias or personal opinion, but on actual astrology. This election, I'm going to give my own take on 2019's election. It's not that I don't have any biases—I obviously do—but when it comes down to it, I'm not really for any politician, so my predictions are not based on who I want to win (there are definitely some candidates I hate less than others), but who I think is going to win. As I'm writing this, I'm still not sure—it might even be Trump (I hope not)! It depends on the birth charts, transits, progressions and return charts of everybody running. My source for presidential candidates is ballotpedia.org, and while I must confess there are a few names I haven't heard of before, I included them in an effort to be fair.

I was originally going to write one big long article about the election, but because the article got to be too long, WAY TOO LONG, I decided to separate it into parts. I'm going to analyze the charts of each candidate in alphabetical order by last name. If there's someone I'm missing, please feel free to let me know.

The Natal Chart of Steve Bullock

Steve Bullock is the Democratic governor of the primarily Republican state of Montana, as well as a former attorney and professor. To learn more about his plans for presidency, click here.

As far as I can tell his birth time is unknown, but we do know that Steve Bullock was born on April 11th, 1966, in Missoula, Montana, making him an Aries.

His Aries Sun is conjunct its depositor, Mars, making him a prototypical Aries. He is a fighter, an innovator and a warrior, never hesitating to stand up for what he believes in. Mars (and the Sun by extension) is also sextile Jupiter, the great benefic, in Gemini, giving him a healthy dose of confidence and self-esteem.

His Moon is in Capricorn, making him a very ambitious character. Capricorn is the sign of the Moon's detriment, so it's possible that those close to him may see him as reserved and maybe even a bit cold, but with the Moon making positive aspects to Venus, Uranus and Pluto, this is less likely to be the case. Instead, the positive traits of a Capricorn Moon are highlighted, such as discipline, strong will, and an ability to work hard. He also most likely has a logical mind that allows him the ability to detach himself from emotions that are too heavy, and analyze them from a different perspective.

The combination of Aries and Capricorn in his chart, however, could lead him to being a bit of a control freak. He has a strong need to be in charge and when things get out of control, or his professional ambitions fail, he may become very upset.

Steve Bullock, however, does have a softer side, as the cluster of planets in Pisces shows us. Venus, Saturn, Chiron and Mercury are all in the watery Pisces, making it his dominant sign. Venus is exalted here, and it's likely that Steve Bullock is very romantic, even spiritual, with a strong sense of ideals. Mercury, however, is in its detriment, as Mercury is all about logic, and the sign of Pisces is all about feeling. This is not necessarily a bad thing, however. Mercury in Pisces is likely to give him a strong and vivid imagination, and a talent for intuiting the emotions of others. Overall, the abundance of Pisces energy probably gives him a strong sense of compassion and empathy for real humans that is missing in politicians, though it's hard to know for sure without a birth time.

Steve Bullock's Transits

Venus will conjunct his natal Mercury at the start of the primaries. This is a positive influence, indicating success in communication. Good diplomacy. He comes across as attractive and pleasant to others at this time.

However, Mars in Sagittarius, while trine his natal Sun indicating strength and confidence, will be making a square to his natal Mercury-Chiron-Saturn stellium in Pisces. There could be an increase in argument, a war of words. There could be real pain involved. In any case, this is not a pleasant aspect.

Then, there’s the Saturn-Pluto conjunction in Capricorn, one of the most important aspects of 2020. This conjunction squares his natal Sun and Mars. This could indicate a massive blow to the ego, a loss of something he holds dear, even crucial to his identity. There could also be blockages and limits imposed on him that prevent him from naturally expressing himself or pursuing what he wants. Whatever the case, it is not a pretty sight.

Yeah, not gonna lie, it looks like the odds are against him but if you like him, keep voting! We still haven’t looked at his transits for the general election.

Looking at Steve Bullock's transit chart for the general election, however, I can see not much has changed. Saturn and Pluto are still square his natal Sun. Only this time, Jupiter's there too. Yes, Jupiter is the great benefic but it is also said to expand everything it touches, and when conjunct these two malefics and square his Sun and it's depositor, I see an expansion of challenging energy, a potential increase in conflict. Not the best transit for a political campaign.

I also see Mercury in Retrograde is opposite his natal Sun and Mars conjunction. When Mercury goes Retrograde, it causes all sorts of mishaps and communication problems. With Mercury Retrograde closely aspecting the planets in his natal chart, he is likely to suffer from these mishaps or misunderstandings at this time. Not the luckiest aspect, if you're looking to be president. There might be a possibility, for example, of the media picking apart everything he says.

One good (better?) thing I see is it's almost his Mars Return which should make him see an increase in strength and vigor.

Steve Bullock’s Progressions

Steve Bullock's current progressions do not look much better. It looks like there is a Grand Cross between Uranus & Pluto in Virgo, Mercury or the Sun in Gemini, Saturn & Chiron in Pisces, and last but not least, the Moon in Sagittarius. A Grand Cross is generally viewed as a source of tension, stress, and difficulty, as all planets involve share the same modality but differ in element. It can cause indecisiveness, and an ability to act, as the individual feels pulled in many directions that contradict each other. With a mutable Grand Cross in particular, there is difficulty with maintaining attention and focus. Gemini, Pisces, Sagittarius, and Virgo are all changeable signs, so this Grand Cross could make it difficult for Steve Bullock to concretely follow through with any plans at this time, as he's being pulled in too many different directions.

The square from Uranus & Pluto to the Sun in Gemini is a particularly stressful one. He might feel a sense of shock, as if the rug is being pulled from underneath his feet, as there are too many events that feel outside of his control. A time of high anxiety.

Mercury's square to Saturn in Pisces is a lot wider, but could cause challenges in communication. Steve Bullock might have a hard time saying what he wants to say, maybe even holding back for fear of what other people might think of him. Mercury's opposition to the Moon, as well, shows a contradiction between what he says and what he really feels.

The one really good aspect I see, however, is Jupiter in Cancer's sextile to Venus in Taurus. This one can benefit his love life, or just his relationships with other people in general. He may also be better at accessing his softer side at this time, knowing how to be diplomatic, and pleasant. So, if the other aspects point to difficulty in his political career, the silver lining is his personal life should excel.

In his progression chart for Inauguration Day, not much has changed. The Sun's square to Uranus & Pluto just becomes even tighter. On what I guess is a positive note, Steve Bullock's progressed Moon has moved into Capricorn, getting rid of the Grand Cross. In fact, if we're okay with using wide orbs, there's a grand trine between Venus, the Moon and Pluto/Uranus. The Moon is opposite Jupiter though, which could cause him to be overemotional, or in any case, based on this, I don't think he will become president.

Steve Bullock's Return Charts

This is Steve Bullock’s current Solar Return chart, for 2019 through 2020. It’s impossible to do an accurate/in depth analysis of a Solar Return chart without a birth time. However the aspects might still tell you something.

Steve Bullick’s Sun is square Saturn by only one degree and square Pluto by only two degrees. This echoes much of what I’ve written before. It will likely be a year of significant stress and drama, delays and obstacles to your goals, a loss of something significant, things that undermine your power and make you feel out of control. Sun trine Jupiter in Sagittarius, however, will lighten things up a little bit. Think maybe blessings in disguise.

I notice the Sun is also square the North and South Nodes in Cancer and Capricorn by only one degree. This shows that this is a significant turning point in his life. Karma coming back to to haunt or reward him, or new opportunities to evolve. Destined and fated events. Yes, this political campaign of his, for whatever reason, must be meant to be.

Then there’s Jupiter square Mercury which could cause him to think big but the overlook details as a result.

Neptune conjunct Venus enhances feelings of oneness and compassion for others. His appreciate for beauty deepens. Beautiful art, beautiful music, beautiful poetry, beautiful women. Again, his softer Piscean side dominates this year. Aside from that, this transit could say something more about his personal or romantic life than his political campaign.

His Solar Return for 2020 through 2021 looks a little bit more positive. The squares to Saturn and Pluto are beginning to separate. Saturn & Pluto also make a sextile to Mercury, giving him both a perceptive and solid, organized mind that will help him reach success. Venus in Gemini is making positive aspects to Mars and Saturn in Aquarius. Whatever Venus symbolizes (it’s hard to say without a birth time) is stabilizing and being sprung into action, though Uranus Square Mars might show stress.

Conclusion

It’s hard to say without a birth time, but based on an analysis of Steve Bullock’s chart, I doubt he will win the primaries. Pluto & Saturn continue to make stressful aspects to his Sun (and Mars) in Aries throughout the entire year, signifying the hardships of a failed campaign. Highly competitive but all for nothing. A defeat. A loss of power. However, as we move into general election season and closer towards Inauguration Day, things begin to look up. If a miracle happens and he wins the primary, well, he might stand a chance. More likely, however, he’ll accept his defeat with ease and move on to something better, that he’s more fit for and/or comfortable with. This could be another political position (likely), maybe even a cabinet position, or something else like back to teaching or his career as a lawyer. Who really knows? In my next article, I’ll be analyzing the chart of Pete Buttegeig. Stay tuned!
