Astrology of the 2020 Elections: Michael Bennet

Part 1 of a long series

Introduction

In 2016, I saw that the astrological community was very divided on who was going to win the presidential elections, but I noticed that these astrologers had one thing in common: their predictions were driven more by bias than astrology. Hilary Clinton supporters were predicting her win, while Trump supporters predicted his win. Not once did I see a Democrat predict Trump's victory nor did a Republican predict Clinton's. For someone actually wanting to study astrology, it was very disappointing.

This election, I want to see predictions based not on bias or personal opinion, but on actual astrology. This election, I'm going to give my own take on 2019's election. It's not that I don't have any biases, I obviously do, but when it comes down to it, I'm not really for any politician, so my predictions are not based on who I want to win (there are definitely some candidates I hate less than others), but who I think is going to win. As I'm writing this, I'm still not sure—it might even be Trump (I hope not)! It depends on the birth charts, transits, progressions and return charts of everybody running. My source for presidential candidates is ballotpedia.org, and while I must confess there are a few names I haven't heard of before, I included them in an effort to be fair.

I was originally going to write one big long article about the election, but because the article got to be too long, WAY TOO LONG, I decided to separate it into parts. I'm going to analyze the charts of each candidate in alphabetical order by last name. If there's someone I'm missing, please feel free to let me know.

The Natal Chart of Michael Bennet

Senator of Colorado, Michael Bennet, was born on November 28th, 1964 in New Delhi, India, where his father, Douglas J. Bennet Jr. served as an aide to the US ambassador of India. To learn more about his campaign and visions for America, click here.

His time of birth appears to be unknown, but we can see from his chart that he's a Sagittarius Sun, and likely, a Libra Moon (possibly a Virgo Moon depending on his birth time), likely making him the type of person able to befriend all walks of life, concerned with social justice but might also appear to be a bit of a fence sitter. His Mercury in Sagittarius is closely sextile his Saturn in Aquarius, giving him a practical mind and likely, a pragmatic approach politics. Judging from his chart, he seems like the type of person able to communicate & negotiate with people from across the political spectrum, thereby getting things done.

However, his Sun is applying to a square with Mars in Virgo, which, while it does give him the courageous & decisive spirit that many people desire in their politicians, could also make him easily frustrated. His ego might be easily bruised and he could be prone to fights and tantrums as a result. Especially with Mars in Virgo, he could be easily prone to anxiety and nervous disorders. His Jupiter in Taurus opposite Neptune could cause him to have some delusional aspirations (for example, running for president in an already overcrowded election when most people have never even heard of him) but I'd argue that this is in many ways a strength; it allows him to dream big. In Taurus especially, he has an amazing amount of willpower. When most people give up, he keeps going, and doesn't stop until he gets what he wants. His Venus in Scorpio makes no major aspects but might also give him an air of intensity. Overall, his placements in Virgo and Taurus make him an earth dominant, likely making him the type to identify as a realist or pragmatic.

But is he destined to become president?!?

Michael Bennet's Transits

On November 5th, the date of the primaries, Jupiter will conjunct his Mercury and Venus will conjunct his Sun. Both the benefics conjunct his natal placements is a good sign. It will at the very least, whether he wins or not, put him in a positive mood. However with Neptune conjunct his natal Chiron in Pisces, and opposite his Pluto & Uranus conjunction in Virgo, he, and perhaps his whole entire generation, might have to confront issues regarding illusion & delusion. Might I say an overestimation of his own abilities? The transiting Moon in Aquarius conjunct his natal Saturn and square his natal Neptune might also trigger feelings of disillusionment.

Shortly before the general election date on November 3rd, 2020, Michael Bennet will experience his Nodal Return, with the North Node returning to 23 degrees Gemini where the North Node is placed in his birth chart. Something karmic is happening, shaping his destiny, moving him in the direction he is meant to go in. With North Node in Gemini, he is born to be a communicator. His lesson is to let go of belief systems and convictions built on assumption, and learn to become more logical, adaptable and open-minded, but also more concerned with objective facts.

Transiting Jupiter in Capricorn trine his natal Jupiter in Taurus is a good sign, but I don't think it's good enough.

Looking at his chart for January 2021 presidential inauguration, I see that the Great Conjunction of 2020, the most important aspect of the year, between Jupiter & Saturn in Aquarius will be square his Venus. I'm not sure how this will affect his political career exactly (it would be a lot easier if I knew his birth time) but it can't be a good sign. Mars will make a conjunction to Uranus in Taurus on January 2021, making it a day of shocks and surprises overall—it is revolutionary energy. I think it's significant that this trines his own natal Mars-Uranus conjunction in Virgo. However, again, it's opposing his Venus in Scorpio. It all depends on how important Venus is in his chart, it could be his chart ruler or it could just be a significator for his love life. However, I don't think he's going to be president.

Michael Bennet's Progressions

His progressed charts, however, look good. Very good, actually.

Remember how I said he was earth-dominated? His current progressed charts shows a grand earth trine between Venus & Mercury in Capricorn, Jupiter in Taurus, and Pluto & Uranus in Virgo (Mars and the Moon also in Virgo) with a sextile to Chiron in Pisces making it a grand kite.

His progressed chart for January 2021 shows TWO grand kites, with the earth planets also making a sextile to Neptune in Scorpio. His progressed Moon at 20 degrees Libra also trines the North Node in Gemini. This gives him good luck and helps him to harness his strengths. Additionally, on Inauguration Day, Venus will be transiting 13 degrees Capricorn, the same degree as his progressed Venus, and the Great Conjunction of 2020 will be conjunct his progressed Sun at 3 degrees Aquarius. So perhaps, I was wrong... perhaps he'll surprise us somehow and become president after all.

Michael Bennet's Return Charts

I'm not sure how useful looking at Michael Bennet's Solar Returns will be without a proper birth time. I don't think you can really study a return chart without a birth time. But I'm including it anyway, since I'm doing it for everybody else. The aspects might tell us something.

This is Michael Bennet's current Solar Return chart, since his birthday is not until late November, after the primaries. The Sun's conjunction to Jupiter in its home sign of Sagittarius shows high aspirations. It makes sense that he'd run for president as such a time. The square to Mars in Pisces, however, shows setbacks, problems that prevent his hopes from coming into fruition. The Sun and Jupiter are also conjunct Mercury Retrograde, and Sagittarius is Mercury's detriment. This shows confusion, a lack of clarity in thinking, or misunderstandings in communication. Perhaps, his campaign was not as well planned as it could have been and that is why it failed.

His 2019 Solar Return chart does not look bad either. The Mars-Uranus opposition shows a possibility of sudden setbacks, but overall, it looks like a very good year. The Moon-Venus conjunction in Capricorn looks especially pleasant. The Saturn-Pluto conjunction in Capricorn is sextile Neptune in Pisces and Mercury in Scorpio, with Mercury and Neptune trine one another. This shows a good grasp on the balance between dreams and reality, idealism and pragmatism. He hasn't given up on his hopes but knows how to pursue them in a practical way.

Conclusion

You can't say much without an accurate birth time. However, common sense alone tells me that Michael Bennet will not win the 2020 presidential election. But that doesn't mean his relentless determination, gifted to him by his Jupiter in Taurus, was all in vain. He may not become president, but the positive aspects I listed tell me he'll get picked for a cabinet position by whoever becomes the 2020 democratic nominee.
