Sunburst Fruit Salad

I love the creativity of this fruit salad. Once all of the ingredients are cut, its so fun to arrange the fruit into this gorgeous arrangement. You can get really creative!

Make fruit salads throughout the year for parties helps keep delicious and healthy food on the menu. Additionally, mixing and matching fruits based on the season let’s you serve fruit that is sweet and amazing.

The Main Ingredients:

Based on the serving platter you use abs the size of the fruit, the quantity that you will need will vary. Choose ripe fruit!

2-3 apples (something sweet; gala, honey crisp,

4-6 mandarin oranges

1-2 pears

1/2 cup pomegranate seeds

1/4 cup dried cranberries (for decorating)

Honey and lemon juice to add a bit of sweetness and to keep the fruit from browning.

Are You Ready? Let’s prepare the fruit!

Apples: Wash the apples and then core the center, removing the seeds. Slice the apples into 1/4” slices. Place in a bowl and drizzle a bit of honey and lemon juice to coat them. Just enough. You don’t want your fruit to swim in the honey.

Hint: if your honey is too think, heat it in the microwave for 10 seconds or so. You don’t want to superheat it! Be careful!

Pears: Wash the pears and cut in half. Cut into 1/4” slices. Place the pears in a bowl and drizzle the honey and lemon juice. Mix until coated.

Mandarin Oranges: Just peel and pull apart! Easy peasy! If you don’t want to add the honey and lemon drizzle, you can just set these aside.

Pomegranate Seeds: Depending on how much time you have, you can bang the seeds out of the pomegranate or buy them already separated. If pomegranate seeds are not your thing, add a colorful fruit of your choosing!

I wasn’t joking about beating the seeds out of the pomegranate! Cut in half, hold seed side down and bang with a spatula.

Now that all the heavy lifting is done, it’s time to put your artistic hat on and get to work. Grab your favorite serving dish and a small bowl!

Get ready! Get set! Let’s plate it up!

Place the small bowl in the center of the dish with the pomegranate seeds. Next place the first layer of apple slices on the outer rim. All slices should be facing the same direction. Add the second layer, placing the slices in the opposite direction.

The mandarin oranges are up! Place each slice in one direction, with the tips slightly overlapping the apples. Don’t eat any until you finished plating your oranges, or you might have to peel some more! 🤣

The pears will fill in the gap between the oranges and the bowl. Arrange them to fit aesthetically in the bowl.

Finally, the dried cranberries! Sprinkle on top! Remember: don’t clump them up.

Congratulations! You made it!

If you want to add some more fun to this gorgeous fruit salad, here are some 💡 ideas!

Drizzle caramel sauce over the fruit!

Replace the pomegranate seeds with blueberries, raspberries or cherries. Or, if you are looking for something else, what about fruit yogurt or vanilla Greek yogurt for dipping!

Sprinkle with chopped nuts instead of cranberries.

Go big! Go wild! Replace the pears with cheese!

Most of all, have fun watching your guests devour your work of art!

If you make your own creation, snap a few picture’s before you serve it. If you forget, it will be too late! 🤣
