FREE COFFEE! Friday, September 29th, 2023!

As a coffee lover, you can bet I'll be attending. I know many members of the Vocal community are also coffee lovers, and so I'd like to share this momentous occasion with you all.

This is, in my opinion, a very rewarding holiday (yes, holiday), as we're able to celebrate it with a free soul-stimulating beverage.

But alas, not all coffee shops are participating in this "pour-for-mance" (du dun-tsh). And you don't have to google which companies are- I did it for you!

Mind you, I reside in California, so some of my research is contingent on locations in my state. And I've included Cali-favorite brands that other states might not know about. But I'll save that for last and begin with the nationwide ones, starting with the most popular since I know it's what many people came here for.

Starbucks

No, they aren't handing out free coffee- and no, it's not because of their money-crazed CEOs. It'd be a lot of pressure for their poor baristas. Many locations are already overwhelmed with high volumes and demands from patrons. This would be unfair to the workers, putting more strain and stress on them in addition to the overwhelming environment they work in.

BUT! Select locations are hosting free coffee tastings.

What does that mean?

Well, it means they premake a drink, lay it out on a sample platter for customers to try, and usually it's a seasonal drink. :) ☕️

Can't be picky, though. They get to decide which beverage to serve.

Pete's Coffee

HA! They're putting a unique stir on this holiday by promoting a "Disloyalty Program" where customers with rewards from rival brands can use them towards a free drink.

It's genius and simple. Visit the link below, sign in, or create an account, then upload a screenshot of your rewards, and they'll send you a free coffee coupon- but only at participating locations. *Sigh* there's the catch.

Krispy Cream

Oh! Yay! Finally an offer with no strings attached! Krispy Cream is giving away free iced or hot coffees without expecting a purchase.

ADDITIONALLY, they're lowering their original dozen glazed donuts prices to $2, so long as it's a dozen! Yippee!

Dunkin Donuts

Promotion is similar to Pete's coffee, except with loyalties. Any Rewards member can receive a free medium coffee, hot or iced, with a purchase.

Personally, it sounds more like a buy-one get one free deal to me. Or buy breakfast, and your coffee's on the house. Either way, you get something and your coffee comes free. I count it as a win!

The Coffee Bean & Tealeaf

Back when I lived in Anaheim, I loved this place. From the sound of it, they're celebrating this holiday alongside their 60th anniversary, and they're making a contest out of it that'll last until Oct. 31. A purchase enters you into the challenge and a daily winner will get the free coffee.

Wendy's

Offer for this holiday is available through the App or website. It isn't free, but for any flavored coffee- including the Pumpkin Spiced Frosty Cream Cold Brew- you'll only be paying .99 cents.

Keurig

Wow, they're even participating! (With a discount code) Using COFFEEDAY23, you can save 15% on all K-cup boxes and 20% on brewers and accessories.

Dutch Brother's

Okay, so this brand is strictly California, and in certain cities. Disappointingly, the free coffee comes at the cost of buying a promotional $20 hat. Yeah... a hat. But hey, if you're a Dutch Bro's enthusiast, it's probably worth it.

This concludes my article, and while I mentioned a lot of participating businesses, I barely scraped the surface. To learn about other members celebrating this holiday, simply Google National Coffee Day 2023 to see the grand list (and enter your state to discover the hidden gems participating as well).

Remember, this event is happening tomorrow! So get your brewsters into a local coffee shop for a drink and let's all raise our mugs in cheers! ☕️

Hmm... I never thought I would say this, but too bad I don't live in California! 😂

  • Great article. Thanks for the reminder (even though I am the oddball who doesn't drink it). Gotta love Peet's!
