• 2 bay leaves

• 6-8 cloves

• 2 cardamom pods

• 2 tablespoons of ghee or oil

• 2 tablespoons of yogurt

• 1 tomato, chopped

• 1/2 cup of mint leaves

• 1/2 cup of coriander leaves

• 2 green chilies, chopped

• Salt to taste

• Water as required

Instructions:

1. In a large pot, heat the ghee or oil and add the cumin seeds, bay leaves, cloves, and cardamom pods.

2. Add the chopped onion and sauté until it is golden brown.

3. Add the minced garlic and ginger and sauté for a few minutes.

4. Add the turmeric powder, coriander powder, garam masala, and red chili powder and mix well.

5. Add the mutton pieces and mix well.

6. Add the yogurt, tomato, mint leaves, coriander leaves, and green chilies.

7. Add the required amount of salt and mix well.

8. Add the required amount of water and bring it to a boil.

9. Reduce the heat to low and cook for about 45 minutes or until the mutton is tender.

10. Add the basmati rice and mix well.

11. Add the required amount of water and bring it to a boil.

12. Reduce the heat to low and cook for about 15 minutes or until the rice is cooked.

13. Serve hot with raita or any other accompaniment.
