Food for the Soul
Growing up I’ve always felt like an orphan. I knew who my parents were, however, they were not around to raise me. I was fortunate to have my grandmother, Madea (short for Mother Dear). Madea carried a silent strength. She never raised her voice, but you knew when she meant business and when she cooked, he was about her business.

I have never been a cook, in fact I've never striven to become one either. The whole ordeal exhausts me even thinking about it. Some things will never change. When I was young one of the biggest things my parents wanted to teach me were cooking, learning Chinese and grow up to have my own family. It looks like I failed at all three of the basic wishes of my parents. Still there's something about cooking rice that brings me back to the good old days.
Brian AnonymousPublished 4 years ago in FeastKing Vitaman has been discontinued
King Vitaman was a favorite cereal of mine and other baby boomers for many years. It tasted to me like the Cap’n Crunch that is sold in stores today with less sugar. than in years past. KV was actually marketed as having less sugar than the Cap’n when it was first being produced. King Vitamin was a sweet crunchy brand of breakfast food produced by Quaker Oats that has only been sold in the United States. It was discontinued in 2019 to the disbelief of those who enjoyed this product. The sovereign ruler has an interesting back story that might interest all who are curious.

Tino NguyenPublished 4 years ago in FeastThe Best Rosemary Bread You'll Ever Eat
I'm going to sound like a brat for a minute, but I think you'll understand why after reading this recipe (and forgive me after you taste the end result): I miss Spanish bread. Every few years, I go to Spain to visit my mom's side of the family; pretty much all of my maternal relatives live there, save my aunt and her sons here in NOLA and a few distant cousins in Florida and Argentina.

Zero oil cooking is a term that basically means exactly what it sounds like. In today’s society, many people are overweight, in America in fact, two out of three people are considered overweight.

JJ’s Coffee House, Crown Square, Matlock Tuesday 25th August 2020 I write blogs now. This is what I tell my friends, and they give the same sideways look that they give when I say I prefer Mediterranean orange gin to regular.

Franklin Social, the in-house dining option at the Renaissance Marriott on Chestnut St., opened their awnings on Thursday, July 22nd for outdoor dining. A staple in Old City, mostly known for their graffitied lobby and mysteriously romantic bar, has reopened after temporarily suspending services in March of 2020 due to the Coronavirus Pandemic. They are following all guidelines provided by the CDC including having all of their staff masked, situating their dining tables six (6) feet apart, and asking that guests wear their masks upon arriving, anytime they leave the table, and upon their departure.
Victoria LehewPublished 4 years ago in FeastDo You Know Why Doughnuts Have Holes?
Most people love doughnut (also spelled donuts). However, they pick them up and eat them without knowing why the hole is there. Not all doughnuts have holes. The first doughnut made by the Dutch colonists in New Amsterdam didn't have holes. They were flat and looked like small pancakes flavored with nuts and fruits.

Most days I try not to eat carbs so when I do make pasta I like to be creative. This has become one of my favorites with spinach ravioli so I decided to be a little daring. Instead of just ravioli I made it a meal. I made it with fresh spinach sautéed in garlic and oil, added some cooked farfalle and then gave it a splash of Alfredo. Let me tell you step by step if you would like to try this. It took me 30 minutes which means you can have a delicious dinner without spending hours in the kitchen.

Margaret MinnicksPublished 4 years ago in FeastA Recipe For Poor Man's Crepes
Since I've been keeping to myself even more than usual since Covid-19 hit in March, I've been trying to rebalance my skill set with all of this extra time I found on my hands. While I've had several craft projects from fabric painting to wood burning, one of the big gaps on my resume was cooking. Since I've had roughly half a year of experimentation in my kitchen at this point, I figured it was time to step back and share some of my more successful recipes with you fine, discerning readers.
