Brunch 23
A Fusion Kitchen In 'Nam (That's Fenham)

Introduction
A couple of weeks back I was walking into town over Nunsmoor and came out on Nunsmoor Road and noticed that what was once an excellent branch of Solomon's Dhaba was now a revamped "Brunch 23". My first thoughts were that it would be just another breakfast place, but I crossed over to check out the menu and was immediately intrigued by it. Now read on to find out why.

Outside Brunch 23
Standing outside Brunch 23 it states that it is a Fusion Kitchen and is Halal and though it is currently mainly Indian dishes there are plans to include foods such as Thai and more.
The breakfast includes chicken sausages and turkey bacon, and there are many more meals and foods to tempt you on their incredible menu. Their Facebook page is here.
The tagline on the Facebook page is "Brunch with a Desi Twist". Desi means South East Continent and I assume that continent means India (even though it is designated as a sub-continent)
I knew that I wanted to check this place out, the menu looked extremely interesting and tempting and even at ten o'clock in the morning, many tables were already taken.
Inside Brunch 23
Today was the day I decided to try breakfast with Fiona. We walked down Fenham Hall Drive and across Nunsmoor in the rain before getting through the door of Brunch 23.
There was a lady and her daughter speaking to our host while eating pancakes, and he eventually finished his conversation and welcomed us, provided us with a table next to a radiator (very nice for today) and gave us menus, but as it is Ramadan only the breakfast items were available.
The lady warned us that the pancakes were very filling, she was local and said she had frequented this place as Solomons and the next incarnation whose name I forget. but she was very impressed.

There were still so many options on the menu and we had come to try their breakfasts. We both had a cafe latte and Fiona chose the Dosa and I chose the Old English with a Puri and Poached Eggs.

Fiona's Dosa had the potato filling as the chef decided the chicken was not up to scratch, but the potato was still excellent.

The food was excellent although I couldn't finish mine, leaving a sausage, a hash brown and some beans.
Our host was extremely engaging, helpful and very easy to talk to, and I was worried that they may be cash-only, but they are very modern world so I could pay by card.
By the time I had finished, I was very impressed with the food and service and I will be revisiting Brunch 23 soon. If I was still walking into work I would stop off there for morning coffee and maybe breakfast but that is unlikely as I am now a home worker, although it is still within easy walking distance for me.
Brunch 23 has been an excellent discovery and I will be frequenting this place. It does eat-in and takeaway and is beautifully different, all the meals are authentic and anything but run-of-the-mill.
Conclusion
I know most of the people who read this will not be in the UK or near Newcastle so you will have to just be jealous of me for having another wonderful eating place on my doorstep.
Although this is a fifteen-minute walk from where I live, it means along with Rajnagar and Achello's I now have three excellent restaurants that I can sit in within easy walking distance.
If I add Fenham Fish Bar, Dragon Wok, The Diner and The Jade to these as takeaways I am incredibly well served with amazing food within walking distance.
I included Bhangra Knights vs Husan - Bhangra Knights as the music as it is one of my fave records of that genre.

Your Old English breakfast looks so good, sans beans. So much food on your plate. I checked the currency converter on the menu price, it’s quite reasonable. Congratulations on Top Story!

You can always ship some of it express to me.... Love finding new places. Congratulations
Your Old English breakfast looks delicious. I’ve never been to Europe, and never had English food. I wouldn’t think to put those things together—never had beans for breakfast! This makes me want to try to make this meal. Maybe someday I will travel and have the real deal. Thanks for giving me a glimpse into UK dining.
Dear Mike Singleton aka Mikeydred, I hope this message finds you well. I wanted to wish you a happy day filled with joy and good food. The food here are North Indian food. I have tried North Indian food before but I'm not a fan, lol. Maybe because I'm so used to South Indian food. Your English breakfast looked so delicious! Enjoy yourself every time you visit them!
