How a Batman ring helped a little boy through a hayride
Batman has become a symbol for those that needed the extra boost to know that justice will always prevail and good always triumph over evil. No matter what, there is encouragement because of how brave Batman is.
Samantha ParrishPublished 3 years ago in ConfessionsI Haven't Forgotten You Either Steve
The year was 1998. I was an awkward twelve-year-old with acne on my face, braces on my teeth, and an afro due to the tragic mistake of asking for a curly perm during a haircut. You know, the poster child of those pesky awkward years. Once, while looking through one of my grandma’s magazines, I came across an article about a new children’s show called Blue’s Clues. Along with the article was a picture of the host, a cute young guy with brown hair and big beautiful brown eyes. One look, my heart was struck. That young guy’s name, Steve Burns.
Judith JaschaPublished 3 years ago in ConfessionsA Walk Through The Cemetery
There is an old, expressive folklore which claims that when we die our souls are carried away on the wings of a butterfly. As a definitive, last effort to keep their loved ones with them, people would rip out the wings of butterflies. - Logic being, if they coulnd't fly - they couldn't carry away souls of the deceased.

I Got Brutally Knocked Out—And It Was The Best Thing That Ever Happened To Me
When I was twenty years old, I got brutally knocked out in front of my friends and family. Let me take you back to the worst night of my life. The year was June 2016, and I was in the Air Force. I was working an eight-to-five job as a storeman, but my real passion was mixed-martial-arts. I had spent most of my teenage years in a grungy fight gym learning The Way of the Fist, and by the time my twenties rolled around, I was already an accomplished fighter with a record of three wins and no losses. I was an undefeated rising star poised to take the pugilistic world by storm. My confidence was at an all-time high.
Alvin AngPublished 3 years ago in Confessions Ironing, Piano, Nuns, a Psychic, and Coming of Age
I’ve had lots of turning points, but the one that marked my coming of age, I’d place that one when I was 18 and in my last year of high school. We moved a lot when I was a kid. My father was an engineer. He designed cranes, conveyors, and overhead highway says, mostly for small to medium sized companies all over southern Ontario. I usually felt like an outsider, but I don’t blame that on moving, more on being a misfit, and not trying hard enough to make friends.
Paul MerkleyPublished 3 years ago in ConfessionsHow My Boss's Cat Is Way Higher On The Chain Than Me
April 1st Here, I'd have my own office, be my own person, have a real name, and not just "you there". Here, making coffee and copies will be a distant memory. Here, there will be no more humiliation. No longer an intern but an account executive-oh, the promissed land.
A.M.RadulescuPublished 3 years ago in ConfessionsThe Most Devastating Thing a Teacher Ever Said to Me
2009 was a very bad year. At the beginning of February, I’d been unceremoniously laid off from a job I loved and spent the next nine months unemployed, gravely depressed, and slowly developing a methamphetamine habit. With each rejected resume came a new layer of self-hatred and self-destructive vices. I barely recognized myself.
Jessica ConawayPublished 3 years ago in ConfessionsWhat I learned from going viral on TikTok
As someone over the age of eighteen, I downloaded TikTok only once the rest of humanity had caved to the app: March 2020, in the first lockdown. TikTok is an app popular amongst teenagers where users post videos of up to 3 minutes. I’ve had it for over a year now, and I’ve racked up 800,000 likes. I’ve seen my videos pop up on Instagram and YouTube compilations, but I am no means ‘a big account’. On the contrary, channels of my size are quite common.
Jade AimersPublished 3 years ago in ConfessionsThings I Learned about being 27
Marriage, kids, career, and life in general: it's okay to not master the universe. I think the hardest thing about being 27 is not punching people in the face when they remind me how close to 30 I am. And how far from marriage I appear to be.
Mae McCreeryPublished 3 years ago in ConfessionsMy Awkward Relationship With Barbie, Pink, And Being Genderless
Ever since I was a little girl, I was told that Barbie was the enemy. Barbie, to people I was around, was everything I should not be. Pink. Housewife. Stupid. And though they never said it out loud, there was a certain stigma that came with the flashy all-American femininity that Barbie signified.
Ossiana M. TepfenhartPublished 3 years ago in ConfessionsDating Terms for Noobs: Part 1: Breadcrumbing
Bread crumbs. They’re delicious crunchy bits of carby goodness. They enhance basically any recipe, they can be used to manipulate small winged creatures into being your friend, and they’re superb for abandoning small German children in witch-infested forests. Recently though, the term has been used to describe crumby behavior on dating apps.
Chloe GrayPublished 3 years ago in ConfessionsSexuality is In My Soul
I've always been sexual. While I don't believe anyone is born a hotwife, I can definitely say there were some early signs or some might say neon lights indicating the path I would eventually choose to take.
