What Rico Nasty Means to the Music Industry
"Hey, you're being really aggressive right now. Is it possible for you to just relax?" I am sure that most black women, if not most, then all of us have had encounters in which our directness or our boldness was incorrectly interpreted as anger, or encounters where we are, in fact, angry for a valid reason, but our right to express our frustration was dismissed as an act of unjustified hostility.
The Beaches 'The Professional' - Review
If the name The Beaches does not ring a bell for you, it’s time to take some notes. This group of young adults from the tattered suburbs of Ontario have been breaking necks worldwide with their sprightly alternative rock n’ roll since their 2017 debut LP Late Show. The group’s dusty shoe laces reach back much further than that, though, being active local favorites since 2013. Consisting of vocalist/bassist Jordan Miller, guitarist Kylie Miller, guitarist/keyboardist Leandra Earl, and drummer Eliza Enman-McDaniel, The Beaches have been dropping hits and famous jaws (including that of Sir Elton John) like it’s going out of style. And with their May 2019 EP release The Professional, I can assure you, it’s not.
"California"
"California" is about living in a small town that you dream of escaping. I wrote this song when I was in a time in my life where certain friends had completely changed and became people I did not want to associate with anymore. The line “they try to lie, they try to tie, their sh*t right back to me” really captures exactly how I was feeling at the time.

Dedication
"Having strong enemies is a blessing." As if taken straight from the closing chapter of an autobiography, the chilling statement would soon become the late rapper's final Tweet.
Jessica JoliaPublished 5 years ago in BeatBut First, Me
Growing up is hard to do, especially when you're late to the party. Born nearly two weeks beyond my mother's due date, I guess I should have seen that coming from the very beginning. Though I've always been a fast learner and quite articulate, my seemingly innate obsession with perfection has certainly posed its challenges and often resulted in that whole 'one step forward, two steps back' thing. Does my hair look okay? Wait, I can't take a picture like this... it's my "bad" side. I really like this recording, but I don't like the way I sang "sometimes..." You can't really hear the last "s" enough... let's do that another time... and can you nudge it two clicks to the left? Perform tonight with no soundcheck? I don't think I'll be able to do that. I know people are expecting me, but I'm just not comfortable. Sorry. You want me to wear that? I would, but my boobs are really small and my knees are oddly shaped. We'll have to choose something else... I can bring something of my own if you'd like...

Right now, it’s hard to find a rapper more interesting than Sik-K. Evolving his style magnificently over the course of his career, the South-Korean has gone from strength to strength with each passing release, with there seemingly no limit to where his progress can take him.

Joshua CoasePublished 5 years ago in BeatPrince: 'Piano and a Microphone 1983' (A Review)
Prince said it himself: " I will not be here when the vault is opened. " Sure enough, Piano & A Microphone was released by the NPG Records/Warner Bros. presses, and my dearly purple beloved is not here. It will be three years he's been gone, this April. Can you believe it? The painful reminder of his death resonates within the numerous Facebook groups and Instagram tribute pages. His former colleagues and bandmates constantly recollect and get together to jam and honor him. Even his ex-wife, Mayte, showed us she's still got the moves to match the grooves.
