Reviews of albums old and new from iconic artists and up and coming musicians alike.
Why Do I Love This Weird-Ass Album?
Now, I'm no music critic. At all. However, I do listen to a lot of music, and whenever I can, I am looking for new artists to dive in to. One of my favorite artists, "100 gecs", has been releasing remixes to songs off their 2019 project "1000 gecs", their most recent being to the track "Ringtone". This remix contains a hefty lineup, with Charli XCX, Rico Nasty, and...Kero Kero Bonito?

(all translations cr: @dprdabin on twitter) I preface this review with I’ve never done a full length review, analysis, interpretation what have you like this, preferring to get to the point with one liners defining the song and how I feel about it. But DPR has never half assed anything so I won’t half ass this. It’s only fair. Is Anybody Out There takes us on a journey through space, navigating emotional lows and highs via Live’s soothing voice and Cream's always iconic arrangements. I’ve already lost track of how many times I’ve listened to the album since it dropped but every time I do I notice something new. The continuous discoveries only pushed me to listen more and listen closer. With that said:

There are millions upon millions of songs around the world, to the point that some get missed out. Its either because they never gained popularity in a national or internationally, or bands having a short performance span. Of course there are some are good, some are bad but the trick of it is to find them and to see if they appeal to your personal taste. That's what I usually look for. Sometimes I'll be using Spotify, Instagram, or YouTube and I'll either accidentally find the song, or somebody has it written down in the comments. Its like these hidden gems that some amount of people know. So I wanted to share my 5 favorite hidden albums/bands
Joshua HerreraPublished 4 years ago in Beat The Big Picture
Considered by Lyricist Bernie Taupin to be the worst Elton John album who has dismissed it's production as abysmally cold and technical. The Big Picture came out during a difficult time for Elton. His good friend, fashion designer Gianni Versace whom the album is dedicated to was murdered earlier in 1997 and just a few months later another Elton friend, Diana Princess of Wales was killed in a car crash in Paris. In response to Diana's death, Bernie Taupin wrote new lyrics to him and Elton's 1973 classic "Candle in the Wind" which Elton performed at the Princesses' funeral at Westminster Abbey. He then recorded it with Producer George Martin and it was released as a single and became the best selling single of all time though Elton himself would later become quite dis-enchanted with it.

Phil CartwrightPublished 4 years ago in BeatReview for Mirabai Ceiba's 'Agua de Luna Album', June 19
I was initially introduced to Mirabai Ceiba on the release of their album Awakened Earthback back in 2011. I was intrigued by their name. Mirabai being the 15/16th century devotional poet who composed over 1,000 devotional bhajans, expressing her love for lord Krishna. Ceiba is the sacred Latin American tree. The tree plays an important part in the mythologies of pre Columbian cultures. It grows very tall and wide with deep roots and is never cut.

It’s always a joy and a pleasure to catch up with Snatam Kaur. Especially for this latest album Beloved, which she describes as a “sound medicine tool kit, with each track having a specific healing effect.” I was overjoyed to learn the album was nominated for a Grammy award. Snatam would perform at the Grammy awards to!
