Growing Old(er) not so Gracefully
I’ve done a lot of embarrassing things in my life. There was that time I peed my pants in the classroom in Grade 1 – all because I was too shy to ask the teacher, Mrs. Bracken, if I could go to the bathroom. Imagine how much harder it was to explain why the classroom floor and half of my classmates’ shoes were puddled in 6 year-old kidney-processed bladder-busting apple juice!

Just the Two of Us
Jess was tired as balls, cranky as f*ck, and had a stress headache that stretched from her frontal lobe to her shoulder blades. She felt bloated and crampy and knew that her period would start any day now. The hour-long drive home did nothing to soothe her spirit or lighten her mood.

Four Suitcases
I could just as easily call this piece “Wine-tasting with Rachna”… except that when Rachna and I share wine and stories, there are often too many black holes and lapses in memory. However, when we run together, I get to fill in the gaps. Moreover, where my memory still wanes, there has been Risha, Rohin, and Rajan to play covert ops. So thank you to the 3Rs for your stealthy assistance.

Nikki the Wonder Dog
She pooped on the floor again last night. She can’t help it. She’s over 15 years old and her body is failing her; it’s something that happens to us all as we age, beast or no. I can’t get upset with her. She already looks so darn disappointed in herself, like she knows its beyond her control but she still can’t help but feel ashamed. I stroke her sweet little furry head and tell her “it’s ok, girl… better out than in, eh?”.

For all of the Menopausal Moms and Outlander Fans
I had a full-on Mrs. Robinson moment earlier this week. To put this story into context, it helps to know that I have taken a real interest in the Diana Gabaldon “Outlander” series of books and the subsequent television series of the same name. Since COVID turned our world upside down and introduced this “new normal”, in which we currently live and isolate, I have been reading the books. I am currently on Book 4: Drums of Autumn.
