One does not simply become a famous writer! It takes many hours before the sun comes up and even more when the sun sets. I am never sure what world I am living in, the one that I am writing about or reality.

The Barn Owl Hoots for everyone.
Dear friend, I heard the barn owl hoot three times while walking back from my nightly walk around the gardens. What a sad sound! I have been waiting for it, all the signs pointing out that I did not have much longer on this earth. So, I am writing you this letter to tell my story before it disappears like the barn owl when day breaks.

10 Days into 2022
Friends! I created two different clubs, at the same time, in my haste to become a proactive, integrated, and contributing member of society. A Gardening and Book Club! Sounds lovely, right? Take my love of the written word and for trying to grow things and share them with people. What could go wrong?

The Raven Society
There was a secret meeting tomorrow night and she absolutely had to be there. The invitation had been left on her dining room table the night before, a small calling card with a Raven printed on the front and an address on the back with small words written ‘Be there at 7 p.m.’

The Christmas season is done.
Christmas is done and over with; what a relief. What a disappointment. This Christmas season was a whirlwind of coordination, logistics, and responding to people's needs, wants, and desires- all in the name of the spirit of Christmas. That is what the season is about, right? Giving without receiving; sharing without asking; responding without requesting. I am exhausted. I have nothing left to offer at this point. The season is officially over, and I am grateful that I survived. I am pleased that I was able to fulfill all the requests and that I was able to coordinate a massive logistic nightmare, and that from an outsider's point of view- it was a success.

Starting the Resolutions early this upcoming year.
Winter Solstice has come and gone. It is a beautiful day of the year in the interior of Alaska, the last day where we lose daylight, and we gradually start to gain. It does not mean that we are magically getting warmer; strangely, our weather gets colder; however, the promise of sun, growth, and life is on the horizon.

The Perilous Journey of a Gym Membership
Day three of having a gym membership... First, I need to explain why I got a gym membership. I recently went on a work trip down south to Seward, Alaska, where my co-worker (and bestie) and I hosted a Murder Mystery Dinner. If you have never been to Seward, Alaska, it is off of Resurrection Bay, surrounded by beautiful mountains on three sides, and features the cutest little town. In addition, it is home to the Alaska Sealife Center, the only marine mammal rehabilitation facility in Alaska. When tourists come to Seward, Alaska, they fall in love with the concept of living in this frozen tundra.

Adventures of the Airport
I used to love the thrill of an Airport. The hustle of people rushing from one end to the other. The frantic sprint of the couple who is about to miss their connecting flight. The excited chatter of a small child carrying an overstuffed backpack containing games, cards, paper, snacks, drinks, change of clothes- all for a one-hour flight. The excited screams of families reunited together at the gates- permanently blocking the way of fellow travelers, but no one 'yelled' yelled at them.

Why do we spring forward and fall back every year?
It is dark here in Alaska. Cook dinner at 3:30 pm so you can be in bed by 6:00 pm dark. It happened quickly this year, like Christmas morning presents quickly. One day I was waking up to the chirping of birds and the annoying sounds across the street neighborhood mowing his grass at 6:30 am, and the next, it was the silent sounds of snow-covered roads and the hum of the overworked heater.

I am done adulting! Check Please!
My office is a mess. Coffee cups, empty Pop Tart bags, sticky notes in various colors spewed around with essential tidbits of information. There are seven cheat sheets from work on reconsolidating my work credit card, posting social media, engaging donors, engaging volunteers, and upcoming programming that I still need to make flyers for.

I have 99 problems
I have had a rough two weeks. More hits have been thrown than the 1893 Guinness World Record boxing match between Andy Bowen and Jack Burke. I have lost count of the number of times I thought I had outwitted, outlasted, and outplayed Karma. However, it seems that pesky female is always one step ahead of me.
